Absolutely Amazing Fish!

Today I went fish hunting with a friend of mine to Lancashire and Manchester. I went to 2 shops Peir Aquatics and BAS. Peir was excellent with their selection of fish which was mainly bottom dwellers. They had castexi and antenna rays on show with marble motoro and leo's in the back reserved. Their tanks were clean and fish looked healthy (tig's had perfect streamers). The staff were helpful and knowlageable and their prices were great. BAS was ok but had lots of tanks but only 3 fish caught my eye which were the large 20" fire eel, RTG aro and devil cats. They also had some quite nice delhezi and ornate birchers but nothing to special. Sorry that there's so many pics I got carried away taking them, at least you wil have some pics to look at. Anyway to the UK people I would definatly reccomend Peir even if it is a long journey away from you it was 2 hrs away from me and was worth it even though I didnt come away with anything.

YER, I wish!!! lol I LOVE the zebra shovel nose but I only hav a 100 uk gal tank so I can't keep a fish that grows that large

Pier aquatics is great for cats,they have a very varied choice.
I go quite often as i live about 10 miles away so its easy to get to.

Which shop was the Goslinea platynema (13th picture from top) at? BAS i presume as they had one on their stocklist a while ago, i dont suppose you recall how much they were asking for it?

The thing that most people will find sad.. is the fish I like best in those pic are probably the most boring to a lot of people.. The silver dollars!!! I love em..

That gold-thingy pleco was pretty cool though.. and I guess you cant deny the coolness of a ray.

The goslina was at Pier. It was £80 if I recall correctly. I have to agree I really like the red tailed silver dollars aswell they were huge!

I do remember as I think that they look pretty cool. They were goin for £80 at Pier aquatics. Are they really as rare as they are made out to be?

Goslinea are very sensative and dont travel well so very few make it into the country, those that do often dont survive long enough to be sold. Even when they have been in captivity a while seemingly well adjusted specimins are known to simply stop eating and die for unknown reasons.
They are not a rare fish as in there arent many of them but that they are not often brought in for the above reasons.

I wish the shop was a bit closer for me as i would buy the Goslinea without a seconds thought but i cant see my gf driving me that far

Yeah I know that the 4 eyes (anableps anableps) that ringham bought arnt really a rare fish but they arnt frequently imported so it was a good oppertunity. I would also have bought the Goslinae but I currently just have a small 40G tank and I am looking to move so it wouldnt not be possiable for me atm. But when I do move and have my 300G (8x3x2) set up I will be looking to buy it . They said that all of the fish in they could get on request at a later date.

I appologise as I haven't posted a pic of my four eyes, would you liek me to? I must admit they are so cool and I have never seen one for sale before. BTW for those of you who don't know they only have 2 eyes but it looks like they have 2 above and below the water because they float at just the right level to make it look like they have 4 eyes.
