The ones at the Walmart here have a diameter of about 3 inches  But the LFS has them in little bowls, maybe holding 1/4-1/2 of a gallon, which is better.

The petsmart near me keep there betta in cup about as high as a coffe cup but skinnier.

Holy dechlorinator  ! Man, he looks bad  - but fin damage like this as terible as it looks is not say, as serious as dropsy, and it is alot more treatable than most deseases; if its not fin rot, his damage resembles much like the kind of damage you'd see with a male betta that has jumped is barracks in a shared tank into another males barracks and not been retrieved for some time :/ .
Im sure though he'll make a full recovery with some TLC and time in your hands
though  .

I saw a little guy at the walmart I went today. I felt bad for him.

Thought I'd give an update on Hagrid. He's doing good in his new home. He's got some new fin growth and flaring like crazy at the females in the 10 gal next to him. There's even a start of a bubble nest. He was all moping around when I first got him, but now he's active and it seems like his fins don't even bother him anymore.

aww that betta has beautiful colors... reminds of what i saw today! a black betta! he was all chewed up in a tetra tank and he was a beautiful rose tail (i think cabbage tell yo yeeviabetta :p ) i felt so bad but walmart said NO HE IS DISPLAY ONLY! and i cried!

Progress pics. :) A couple more pieces fell off the day I got him home and in his new tank, but the day after and ever since then there's been new growth. I moved him to a 2.5 gallon today. I think he likes it. He's been doing laps ever since I put him in there.

It looks like he is coming along nicely. Glad to see he has a good home. Keep up the good work.
