I havn't done a Wal Mart rescue in a while, but I saw this guy and had to bring him home. His poor fins are in ribbons. Poor guy. I wonder if they feel any pain when their fins are in such bad shape like his is. It doesn't look like fin rot or fungus. It almost looks like they got ripped or chewed off. He's in a 1.5 hex with salt and stress coat. My wife named him Hagrid.

hey! a cambodian betta! nice find, i had one once, looked almost exactly like urs (cept without the ripped fins). although it looks cool with it's fins all ripped, i hope he grows the fins back. :)

holy heaven that is terrible looking! The poor thing.

The poor guy looks positively awful!!! Does the Betta grow its fins back after they have been so bad? My fish has tail rot and is being treated for it and I wonder if his tail will grow back--he has lost at least 1/3 of it--close to 1/2 now. But at least it is not getting any worse.

My fish does not look so bad now that I have seen Hagrid.

Two of my girls had part of there tail fin bite off and one died with it healing slowly and the other one is still healing.

Awww! Look at his poor tail. Yes fins will grow back. It usually takes a while to start seeing growth but once you do it goes so fast. You'll notice the growth is transparent at first. If you want to help him along, get some Melafix to put in his bowl. It will greatly speed up the process.

Love the name BTW!!!!!

Nice rescue. His fins look just like my betta Shred's did when I first got him. Shred was victim to being put in the same cup with another betta. I do believe that fin damage that bad does cause them some discomfort. Shred was very lethargic for his first week, prefering to sit on the bottom of his tank, and sometimes on top. But since then, he's livened up, and grown back some fin. With time, TLC and very clean water, you will have your fellow back in shape in no time at all. :)

OMG his tail looks awul i hope he makes it and has a lobg and happy life :D .When his tail grows back he will look amazing

When I saw him I found my wife and told her that I found a betta that we have to take home (she thinks I have enough bettas, but she doesn't know there's no such thing as enough bettas). She asked me why so I took her over and showed him to her. She was like "Awwwwww, poor little guy. Well, you do have a couple spare tanks." I have some MelaFix and was thinking of putting some in cause I have had pretty good results with it for fin rot, but I don't know if I can use it with the stress coat I used. The stress coat is Aquarium Pharmaceuticals as is the MeleFix so it should be ok. Ah ha! I just looked behind the Melafix lable again. They can be used together so I think I'll put a couple drops in there. He's a little more active today then he was yesterday though. I put him next to my female community so he's been hanging out on that side of his hex tank checking out the babes.

good thing we dont have walmart in england tho we do have some big chain stores in derby which sell bettas in jamjars, is this cruel altho the fish dont seem to be too depressed
