A "thankyou" Add-on To The Forum Would Be Nice.

lol, this sounds really sad but i just feel a lot of users on this forum contribute a heck of a lot in sending things to different people including new members and existing ones. I mean i`ve only had a tank what 3 months and i`ve already sent about 15-20 parcels ALL for free except two. I have likewise also had a lot of sent to me by different members!

I just think it would be nice to show recognision and thanks and also nice to recieve recognition of thanks!

I know i would certinly feel happy i`m contributing to what i get out of the forum if i had a little box next to my name that said: 15 thankyou`s or even more simple...a sticky thread for thankyou`s would be a close replacement. It just needs something next to your name so people, when they see you mithering and posting post after post and draining everyone of knowledge (like i try to do ) they can look and say.."ohh well yea, he certainly gives it back to the forum! "


Rant over...just thought it would be a nice idea...

Hi Chris ,
I will be one of the first to thank you for the snails i had yesterday mate . They are all doing well and i cut and pasted my comment onto the thread that started it off about the MT snails so i hope this helps the cause mate . Just one question though , I hope i dont get the snails version of the CSA knocking on my door when they start to make little snails anyway thanks again and happy fish keeing .

Ya I seriously agree with you, there should be a section just for thanking people and leaving good/bad comments so other people can know about people and if they can trust them and all.

I think this idea has the ability to turn really ugly really fast. Not a good idea. Mods and Admin would have to monitor comments, and issues would arrise when something went abit wrong in the trade/sale.

If you like sending stuff for free, keep doing it to make yourself feel good and help fellow hobbyists, but I can see this idea, turning into a competition, and not in a good sense.

Why do you need "conformation" of your good "deeds" anyway if you dont mind me asking? I dont think sending away free parcels is "giving back to the forum" to be honest, your helping fellow members...If you wanted to give back to the forum, make some profiles, continue to post quality info, and when the time comes again, help William pay for more add-ons/upgrades.

I agree with Mr. Miagi in that having a section with comments on people is unproductive and we don't need to start 'blog sheets' here. One's reputation precedes you . Ask 100 TFF members to list their top ten most knowledgeabe and helpful members and I'm sure that there wouldn't be a lot of 'hanging chads'. SH

How much stuff do you send Miagi, your post was a discrace for such a well established TFF member. I expect people to have a balanced view and don`t expect my ideas to be flamed down.

If i am being honest, i got the idea from a highly respected planted tank forum and thought it would be a wonderful idea or here! Hummmm..

Maybe not a thankyou section but maybe like an update section where people can post there updates on what somebody sent them, and so other people who might want some can see how it grows after being shipped. Personally I don't care for an update, I'm the type of person who likes to do something to help someone and not get a lot of recognition for it but if I send plants I at least like to know how the plants are doing and if the person doesn't give you a minimum of a weekly update I think of it kinda of a rude ungratful person, especially if you sent them for free. Still an update/good expierence with people might be nice. Me as a kid have a hard time convincing my parents to let me give my address away, and maybe if a ton of people all said they had good expierence with someone I might actually be able to give my address away. As for helping pay for new additions, I'd love to but can't since I'm a kid, I don't know how I'd do it, I have no online money giver thing(paypal) and the money I do get goes to college savings or the fish.

I think also you are right...its not about thanks its just a recieved them A sort of thanks "so that i know got there". I`ve sent a tone of stuff and only about 8-10 have replied!


Also i think your all being incredibly nieve. At the end of the day if you send something you deserve credit. Your all posting how "you don`t do it for praise" ....NO but you deserve reconision for your contribution! thats what its about! and its damn rude not to reply....a tanks button would make it easier!

I think its a good idea personally. If someone ever helps me out i always thank them, and i would expect people to do the same when i provide help when i can.
I think i've recieved 3 parcels from members on this forum, and i have always thanked them, via pm.

Ya all it tanks is hit the reply button and say thank you and even nicer is how they recieved it and what they did with it.

Honestly I think this should more or less just be for planted section because it seems like everybody else just doesn't get it.
