Just bought a Juwel 180 vision, 2nd hand, thoroughly cleaned it, and set it all up yesterday, with sand, slate, and i went to lfs and bought 8 live plants.

I got home, thoroughly washed the plants, and checked them for slime, and snails, and didnt find any, so i put the plants in yesterday.

Ive just turned around now to admire how my new tank is getting along, and what do i find?? A SNAIL omg, it was stuck on the side of the glass, very small, so i fished it out, and flushed it down the loo, i dont want any snails in my tank, so how did this get in there?? :/ :dunno: :dunno:

Clown loaches love snails so if you have any more they will soon be eaten. They just slurp them out and leave the empty shells.

Hey claire,

Have you seen the top pinned topic in the catfish section. Is it possible your brother has one of those, my LFS sell them as "grow to 6 inches and community fish."

As for the snail, i would take it out as they lay loads of eggs and your empty tank will end up with loads of tiny snails before you move the fish in. Either throw it away or put it in with your loaches for a tasty snack.

when my tanks get overrun by snails i used to put them in a loach tank, and they took them like treats, lol.

snails are so hard to keep out of ur tank seems like no matter what you do.

Good luck
