Yeah i've heard about that trend but i think its totally gross; would you want to put your hand in your tank to say, re-arrange decor, just after you have pissed in it?
Totally gross....
How is it any worse than putting your hand into water that yourt fish have peed and pooped in?

Human urine, well, any urine, is one of the cleanest byproducts the body produces. It is in fact sterile!!!

Not that I'd drink it or anything :p

Actually, human urine isn't sterile, but you can drink it if you distill it first.

Urine is a by product of metabolism process in the body, there for it contains measurable amounts of waste in it. It contains keytones, blood, epithelium cells(skin cells of bladder and ureathra), nitrates, amonia, insuluable lipids(fats), toxic chemicals filtered by the kidney, acids, and in males seminal fluid(sperm byproducts) so actually drinking urine right from the body can be dangerous if the person supplying it is sick or on medication. By distilling it, you evaporate it then collect the condensed "clean" water that forms on the container, but make sure it dosen't pool up in the dried toxants in the bottom of it's original container. This is a survival skill learned in the military where we used a poncho liner, a hole and canteen to clooect the "clean" moisture. You do this by digging a hole, peeing in it, then cover it with the poncho liner(or other plastic material) and let the condensation drip into the canteen. Not a real efficent way of doing it because some of the water is lost in the atmosphere, but it can save your life if stranded with out a fresh water source. You can do this if you collect water from a un known origin also.

Sounds gross, but it works.

i guess when you seeing people peein in fish tanks at parties in the movies they are actually just cycling the tank. and really drunk

This is actually a really good practice, I Cycle my tank every Saturday morning at around 3:00AM, I find it difficult to stumble down 2 flights of stairs after "Socialising" on the Friday.

Actually, it is sterile if collected in a sterile container under sterile conditions. If it weren't sterile then how would they be able to diagnose people with urinary tract infections. Sterile meaning....no bacteria present. Of course there will be bacteria if you urinate into a regular container....that is obvious. The only time human urine, collected in the right way, isn't sterile is if there is a bacterial infection of the urinary tract (kidney/bladder etc.). Trust me on this one, I worked in a Microbiology lab for too many years.

As for drinking it, I guess it would depend on how concentrated it is. Like in the morning....EWW!!! If you drink a lot of water then it is practucally water anyway.

And we think thats bad, fish actualy swim and breath and regulate their bodies with what they defficate. :*)
