A Real Invasion

imho= In My Honest Opinion

Tigerknife.... You mention the Berghia nudi.. I have searched for one of these with no luck, my lfs has been trying to get one since august last year with no luck. As you are in the UK i am now extremly hopeful you might know where i can get hold of one.

Hi nav

I have been talking with the guy who orders for the marine section of southern aquatics.
He had a Warty Nudibranch in his coral display tank. This lead to a debate about what this speices ate.
I was under the impression it only ate sponges. He seemed to think they were algae grazers.
Anyway he told that he had ordered 12 from TMC and they were selling well. He then went on to tell me about other Nudis that could be sourced, and the Berghia took my interest because of it obvious benefits.

I visit the shop most weekends because we are quite friendly. I will see if he has better luck in getting them.
I don't think it will be a problem, he seemed to think they are available.
NO SCRAP THAT ILL RING HIM in the morning. He should then have enough time in the day to find out, and i will let you know tommorow evening.

thank you guys for the help, i am going to buy a pepperments shrimp on friday, and hopefully that will help, if i dont do anything about it what will happen, othr than them taking over my tank

IMHO you're just better off transferring your livestock to the newly set up 10 gallon with a little newly cured live rock in it seeded by some sand from your 5 gallon. Then you can bomb the 5 gallon with about a cup of kalwasser (pickling lime) and keep water movement on the 5 gallon for about a day. After a day of bombing with the pickling lime you can take out all water from the 5 gallon, then put in completely new water and start the curing process. A previous poster on this thread miss typed and said that the higher PH makes the water more acidic, it's the opposite, it makes it more basic and will kill off all inhabitants when you bomb the 5 gallon (so make sure that there is nothing in the tank or on the rocks that you want kept alive, if so frag it and get it out of there before you bomb it!) If you have any larger aptasia most peppermints won't even touch them, peppermints are better off used when you have killed off all of the adult aptasia and want to make sure that aptasia doesn't get a chance to grow back. So make sure you have some peppermints in your 10 gallon so that you can keep the aptasia under control. In most cases where I have seen aptasia go crazy it is from overfeeding, so make sure that you aren't dumping large amounts of food into the tank.

what is Aiptasia? can i get a link to a picture of it so that if it invades my tank, i will know what it is?

Me too...this stuff sound horrible...I want to know what to look out for? How do you get it in your tank in the first place?

I still think that JJ's is the way to start...it may be tedious, but, worth a try. SH

bit of a throw back, but IMHO can also be in my humble opinion, and is useually such in the states IME
