I've been told by many to get friends for my Cory and I'm thinking hard about it as I want what's best for him. Thing is that at the moment my tank is only 15g (57l, 60x36cm) and does hold other fish as well but no other bottomers. I worry if the tank can handle a proper group of Corys. I have a proper filter made for the tank turning over the tank water 10 times per hour (600L per hour goes through the filter) and then there's the size of the tank. Can it even hold a school of Corys? There are a lot of people with great experience in here and I can handle the truth.

The only other choice I would have at this moment is to set up a separate Cory tank but then I can only give them 5g, that's really not too hot. I would not have made the situation this way on my own accord but the little guy needed a new, clean, proper home asap if you know what I mean :/

Tank belongs to 5 green neon tetras and then there are 4 juvenile Angels (in other words small).

your angels wont grow properly unless they go into a bigger tank pretty soon. you cant wait for them to outgrow the tank, because theyw ill become stunted and stay freakishly small. as for the cory, even a couple of friends would be good for him. though with the 4 angels it would definitely be pushing the stocking i think. why do you have the angels ?

I am aware of everything that concerns the Angels, there's no need to worry about them they are properly taken care of :)

So 3 Corys could do well in the tank? If they could remain in this tank that would be great.

A trio is better than a solo fishy for sure and if you have the Angels delt with, even better.

I would agree with what Tizer is saying and suggest that the more the better with cories! I think the minimum number for cories is 6, rather than 3. But, truthfully, the more the better (within tank stocking limitations of course). :D

I'm sorry but it doesn't seem that you are properly taking care of them. Not only is the tank too small for them, but you also have four in such a small space. As they get older there's a huge risk that they will fight, possibly to the death.

Please look to rehome these fish before you think about adding anything else to the tank.

+1 agree totally !

+2!
Angels need at least 30 gallons and an 18" tall tank.

Probably because you're used to a lot of people who aren't caring for their Angels properly :) As this thread isn't about my Angels but my Cory I haven't gone into any details about them but if I'm making a thread asking about the tank being able to house a group of Corys then it should be pretty obvious that I think before I buy. The Angels have a very carrying (slightly too nervous and over-protective) human mommy and are in good hands.

Please don't tell people to rehome their beloved pets just like that :(

I'd love to get as many as 6 if they can be happy in this tank :D It feels like you're all giving thumbs up on Corys being able to thrive in my 15g then?

I don't think you are understanding my point. The tank size and number of angels you have in such a small tank is innapropriate and is NOT very caring. You may very well be attentive to them with food and the cleaning of the tank, but housing them in such cramped conditions is poor fishkeeping at the very least, cruel at worst.

Take a look around MANY MANY websites out there that will tell you the minimum tank size and stocking for angel fish and you should very quickly see that what you are doing is in no way optimum for your 'beloved pets'.

I completely agree. While you may not be asking for help specifically regarding your angels - you joined a forum full of advocates regarding proper care of all animals, including tank inhabitants.

You tank is not properly stocked.
This effects your cories.
Properly rehousing the angels means you can up the number of cories you can stock and therefore making your cory happy which was the whole point of your post.

In your very first post you stated "There are a lot of people with great experience in here and I can handle the truth." - - well, we are telling you the truth.

But technically it is about the angels, unfortunately you should have researched what size tank they required at full size, not has tiny juveniles, fish kept in a to small a tank become stunted in size, this is fine you may think, but its their internal organs that continue growing causing an untimely death later on.

Going by the fish reaching their full size, you are overstocked now so i would advise against adding anything else, you could either decide on a larger tank or rehome the angels so therefore getting friends for your solo cory...

I have only three adult cories in my main tank (I rehomed them that way) and they are perfectly happy. I'm not sure that a 15g would be enough space for as many as 6, and it depends on what type of cory they are, since different ones are different sizes. But I think you could get one or two more, and that would be better than nothing.
