Ugh, everyone! This is not about the Angels in any single way. The Angels DO NOT LIVE in this tank, they are TEMPORARILY IN the tank! I have NEVER said that I plan to KEEP THEM in the tank. I CLEARLY STATED that I KNOW what I need for my Angels! I HAVE BOUGHT A PROPER tank for them that is a little delayed THAT IS WHY I bought the biggest tank I could get a hold of and go home with right away. As a big area of this country suffers from a huge power loss due to losing a nuclear power plant in early spring this year so the bigger tanks don't exactly grow on trees at the moment. This whole long, complicated story started of with me being extremely misinformed by staff but then got great inputs and advice from Angel breeders.

There are some people out there that don't need to read all your guides or threads when coming here for a question, some people have already done their homework and is just trying to do their next on a different fish.

Fyurae - Thank you for your input. I also thought 6 sounded like too many for a tank this size, I don't want to rehome him so I'll let him and a few new friends move with the Angelfish I have.

Mizufish; please don't take it personally. If you had to deal with some of the utter awfullness of some of the posters we get on here on a daily basis (like right now), you'd understand why people have said the things they have.

It's nothing personal; we all just want everyone's fish to be happy and healthy in appropriately sized tanks and with suitable tankmates.

Please don't shout, you wanted advice regarding adding more stock, you didn't explain that you will be upgrading in the future,so how would we know,we see whats put in front of us and advise what we think, and obviously the Angel fish came into it....

The moment is here & now, personally i think you can maybe add 2 corys more max for friends to your solo one,but you'll be pushing your limit...and ideally not the best situation, has corys prefer to be in bigger groups....

Hi MizuFish :)

Let me suggest that you post the results of your water tests here. By this I mean ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. That will give us a better idea of the carrying capacity of your tank RIGHT NOW. It should change as your fish grow but you can monitor the situation as you go along.

I'd love to get as many as 6 if they can be happy in this tank :D It feels like you're all giving thumbs up on Corys being able to thrive in my 15g then?

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I said the ideal is a group of at least 6, within tank stocking parameters. The specific type of cory that you keep is very important in determining possible stocking. Pygmy cories grow to just about an inch to maybe just a bit over. "Emerald cories", which are actually of the genus brochis grow to over 3 inches. If the tank is ONLY going to have cories in it, you could get 6 cories of any of the 2 inch variety (this includes MOST of them). If you went with dwarf corys, you could up that number to 8-10. If you went with pygmys, then you could go with 12-15.

To be honest, you haven't really supplied much information for anyone to be able to give you "good" advice. Please post your specific water parameters as inchworm indicated, and the specific type of cory you have to help folks give you proper advice. (The advice I had given you previously is "general" cory information. More is usually better as they are highly social as shoaling fish, and the standard number for a minimum stocking is 6, but the actual stocking limits are based on your tank and the type of cory.)

Hi MizuFish,

Just going off personal experiance (I am in no way an expert) I'd say the tank won't be big enough for 6. I currently have 4 peppered corys in a 60L. These guys get pretty big in the way of corys (approx. 6cm if I recall correctly) and I'm already freaking out that they will outgrow their tank before I can shift them into the new 200L. The same goes for my albinos which are in a different tank. What kind of corys do you have? That might help people advise you better. :good:

BTW, your angels are ADORABLE!! I wish it was easy to come by angels that nice around here easily.

I do understand why, it's a bad circle I guess. I wasn't taking anything personal I was just getting frustrated as I too want my fish to be happy and now it was about the Cory, the Angels always steals his thunder :(

I completely fail at the multiquote, I hope this doesn't become too messy:

Harlequins

Yes, I didn't mention I was going to upgrade, my question was if the tank could handle a proper school of Corys not if I could add more stock to the tank since they were going to be the only fish in the tank.

Inchworm
Oh, well sure I can do that. I was mostly just curious if the size of the tank was okay. My daily water tests read Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrates 5 (temp is 28 night and 29 day). It's an established cycled tank that didn't even react to the Cory being added to it.
I also test the regular GH, KH, CI2, CO2 and then I could create a whole other thread to cover the live plants.

Very much my bad, I should have attached a picture of him. He's apparently a Corydoras Arcuatus and I have not managed to find any English information about his type whatsoever, the only info I can get is Japanese and I don't know how useful that info would be to you guys :/ He is expected to become 4-5cm long, I have no doubts that he is a normal Arcuatus and not a super that can grow up to 10cm.

This is not my Cory on the picture but he looks identical. Maybe you guys recognize it, there's a big chance it's called something else in English since I'm having such a hard time googling it.

Oh wow! How big are they now? Mine won't get all that big but maybe they would be better of in a different tank, it's just.. any chance to set up another tank you know, hehe. I posted a pic above, over here it's called an Arcuatus, I hope it can be recognized by someone, doesn't seem like the most popular type.

Aww thank you! I wish they'd stay my babies forever but they are already turning into little teenagers. If it makes you feel better it wasn't too easy getting a hold of them, you might have a private experienced breeder closer than you think you :D!

In that case yes, your 15 gal could hold 6-8 corys if no other fish are going in,the cory you have is indeed an arcuatus, also known has the arched cory or skunk cory,i have 6 of these and they're cute :good:

I've had mine for 2 years and they're quite chunky has corys goes, mine are around 2.5 inches. :good:

Thank you so much for confirming that, Skunk Cory I've seen written I guess after clicking 10 different Cory links my attention span made me miss it completely when looking. Wow yours are big, the info I've found kept claiming they are smaller, can't wait to see him grow! I will go down to the pro shop tomorrow now that I got a definite answer and make sure he gets some company though he's loved hanging out with the tetras.
Since I do have tetras in there and the whole cycle tank thing I was thinking of getting 1 - 2 depending on what they have in stock. I'm worried they won't have any of the same type at a decent size (as in he feels okay with selling them). It would suck if he'd have to wait even longer :(
