Well I have a pretty nice 60L tank, only porblem is I have literally hundreds of small snails!!!

I don't know how it happens, the plants never even get eaten!? I keep killing them but they seem to keep multiplying!! is there any kind of smallish snail eating fish?!?

hmm :/ think I just have to take alla the decor out and take a kettle and...

he he he

slightly less snails

NOOOOOOOOOO Do not put hot water in your tank. It will warp the glass and cause it to crack. Try salt water or one of the had a snail treatments. Also any medication with copper will kill snails. Try the snail traps to but do not use hot water.

if you use salt water or meds to kill them then you will still have to strip down the tank to get rid of them, as syphoning them doesnt really work and youre left with hundreds of rotting snails which isnt good either.
i would go with the snail trap or the botia.

My small angels TRY to eat them. Unfortunately, the angels are only about 1" long and the snails won't fit in their mouth. They will pull them off the plants and walls of the tank though before they drop them to the bottom. As for where you got the snails, if you get plants, you will have snails. It is possible to get rid of them but takes a while. I have had slight success with putting a lettuce leaf on the bottom (you will have to weight it down) and then removing it every morning along with the snails that are on it.

No No!! lol take the decor out that is covered in snails, mainly pots etc and wash 'em off

sorry in hindsight my last post was a bit unclear lol

If you have a friend with a bigger tank, you could buy the loach, and when its done, give it to him, or a trusted place around you.

A caution to that. If you are ever considering doing a saltwater tank or even keeping any freshwater inverts like amano shrimp or ghost shrimp, DO NOT use copper. Copper lingers in the tank in the seals and such, and is still toxic long after you have dosed it. Also if you dose with copper and ever plan on selling the tank, remember and make a note of it for that reason... as the buyer would probably like to know.

If you can afford to do a saltwater tank in the first place, you usually can afford to buy new stuff ;)

thanks guys I learned a lot from this thread. getting rid of snails is one of the things I am still learning about but I do know that Hot water in a tank is a bad idea. Thanks again for correcting me. BTW Why would they sell hadasnail if it just pollutes your tank with snail corpses?
