I bought some new fish from my LFS but noticed a tiny fry in the bag when I got home! Any ideas what it is please?

It is only just under a cm long so in an incubation tank because at the moment my Angels keep eyeing it up as dinner....

Thanks,

Mark

What fish were housed in the same tank with it? It looks more like a guppy or Molly fry. But it could easily be something else. But it definitely looks like a livebearer fry

Thanks for the quick reply!

It was when I got Angels and Glowlight Tetra, but the store does stock Mollys and Guppys. I wondered if it was a Harlequin?

M :)

Definitely not a harlequin, we the mollies and guppies black or partially black? If ao then it could be a fry of one of those. Do you think you can enlarge the pic?

Hmmm, panda platies are another good guess, now I think tat they are most likely guppies or panda platies as the fry looks similar to both, I automatically thought it was a guppy because I recently owned one that looked similar to that one

I have a mollie that looks just like that but yellow. Maybe one of them? Or a Platie. My guess

I'd say guppy too. Livebearers don't determine their sex for a good 2-3 months so it could be male or female

the picture isn't big, or clear enough to clearly to the anal fin to determine the gender of the fish, so we dont know whether or not its a male or female.
just a reminder everyone
we cant determine the sex of the guppy by color, the male guppy I posted had some females in the tank with much more color than he did, so just because half of the body is black or a solid, bright color doesnt mean it is necessarily a a male guppy
