A Few Steps Foward.

It sounds like youve had a fun filled day. That is rather funny about the royal gramma, cheeky little #28###, aye? At least its okay though. Is the coral beauty okay now then?

I expect pics once its cleared up :good:

Aye everything seems ok, it's the snails I'm worried about as they can be finicky blighters when moved but ho-hum if they pop it there isn't alot I can do.

CB seems fine ATM, she is a big and aggressive fish so a few moments like that shouldn't phase her to badly.
Pics will follow tommorow.

well everything seems to be fine and i had a few nice suprises but more on that later, i took the LFS's water bottles back today and left the shop will a fair few frags, weak weak man.
002.jpg

gots me another leather toadstool as my real spectacular one sadly died a few months back, this one however promises to be just as amazing
001.jpg

i massive colony of clove polyps
004.jpg

some more ric's you cant tell from the picture but they are striped blue
003.jpg

a chunck of a leather on a purple thing, what will it turn into???? no body knows :)
005.jpg

a colony of green zoa's
013.jpg

a colony of orange zoa's on what looks like an acro skeleton and just above it a small colt (i think)
sadly there is a few of
014.jpg

on the orange zoa's, they dont look like aip's or maj's so i am not sure, hopfully the peppermints will take a fancy to them.

so onto the suprises
009.jpg

un earthed this in the move, looks like a baby duncan doesnt it :)
011.jpg

this was half buried behind a rock, not sure what it is but from the bit of die off and bleaching around the healthy part i think its a hard coral akin to an acan (with part of my acan in the background)

lastly full tank shot
007.jpg

during the move i found the remains of several small crabs that i am sure fell victim to ajax (my hitchicking golaith crab) sadly i couldnt coax ajax out of the rock in which he made his home so the rock and ajax spent the night in a bucket of water in the garden last night, waste of rock but i really didnt want that b*gger in the new system.

excuse the sun down the front it is another casulty that one day rolled behind a rock (flipping mithrax crab) and is now being nursed back to health.
also excuse my poor photography.

love the new shiny piece of kit
looks spot on sorgan what are you doing
with the old one  the new frags look
good and the new scape looks sweet i am
thinking of moving on to a three foot
tank but think i will leave it till next year
now mind you it might take me all that time to
but a false back in it and sort out a weir
for it i will have to put pencil to paper
and do some drawings

Tanks going well, managed to attach both my aquarays and the tank is now bright as you like, all the coral is looking great.

Noticed a few more aip's on the coral frags I got, went to the LFS for som aip x but he has sold out (seems he has had an outbreak, poor chap) and my peppers won't touch them :(
This weekend he gets some more aip x so will try to murder the little blighters on Sunday, if the bottle don't work the has powered soldering iron will come out although I'm loath to do that as the pests are surrounded with zoo's

Well all the aip's are gone, saw a peppermint chopping his way through one so I guess he decided he liked them in the end.

Had a long talk with my LFS and we discussed BTA's after a while I decided to get one and with his help we picked out a good one, he refused to sell me a few as he thought they needed recovery time or didn't look perfect. So say hi to my new nem.

Don't know of you can see but he has pink dots on the end of each tentacle.

Power heads have been socked lol.

Oh I forgot to add

eb86bae7.jpg

Zebra dartfish :)

Just having a giggle watching the crosshatch goby take mouthfulls of sand, swimming up and dumping them on a rock then laying on it :)

Lovely fish, dont remember seeing one of those before :good:

The nem is bleaching  after a few days, probably about three or four (as long as he hasn't moved) offer him a prawn or small silverside fish. just drop it in to his tentacles. feed him every week and his colour should start to come back :good: You have covered your powerheads haven't you?

Seffie x

The photo doesn't do it justice seff it's quite colourful in the flesh, the powerheads where covered but he seems to of settled down now and I was losing alot of flow so I've un covered it.

Talking about feeding, the day after he went in he spent the whole day shrivelled up expelling waste and puffed up just before I fed the tank. So I dumped some marine pellets in and the cheeky blighter got some out of the water column and ate them!

He is currently trying to open out of 2 holes at the same time (got himself crammed in a nice hole with 2 exits.

Just came from a very nice reefers house with a bucket of goodies!
In said bucket was
A 5 headed Duncan
Some acro frags
A piece of plating red montipora
Some hyterix (?) frags
A few staghorns
A strip of green star polyps (got plans for these)
Some other sps that I've forgotten what it is
A brown photo gorgonian
A purple " "
And a pocket full of frozen silversides for my nem.

:) well happy, they are just placed in tank for now untill I can mount them all tommorow.

Got me some bargains and some top advice and got to see a very very nice tank.

007-2.jpg

026-1.jpg

025-1.jpg

FTS

excuse the bits of food in the shots, it was feeding time lol

great start m8, can i point out it would look 100 times better with a background?

righty so we have some new additions.

e75d9088.jpg

dfafabe2.jpg

this is a mini carpet (maxi) anemone, its the same nem just 10 mins apart, just shows how fast they can move

17f619db.jpg

another forogspawn, not totally out in this pic but the tank was dark when i started writing so an old pic will have to do

af94326a.jpg

this is a yellow Turbinaria that has taken pride of place in the middle of the tank, looks like a little sun doesnt it :).

the BTA is doing well but refuses to eat silversides or mussels, it seems to like new era pellets however and expands towards any that make it to the sand bed, he seems ok with them but i am still trying more meaty foods a few times a week. fussy critter.

my zebra dartfish and crosshatch goby have taken to living in the same hole and can be frequently seen both peering out side by side.

I haven't seen your journal for a while and boy how things have changed :good:
It looks ace!!!
Good point though bout a background it would look ace with a blue background

Your new corals look cool, a duncan is top on my wishlist at moment so jealous ther!!

Plus the anenomaes look fantastic especially that maxi one

Well done you :good:
