My own place!!! Niagara Falls, Ont.
I went in for a meet & greet and big tour today, and got to meet most of the trainers who are closer to my age. Which was awesome. I discussed costumes with Nick and he LOVED the pattern I picked out and said to make two, so I went and picked up the fabric this afternoon. $55 later, I've got almost 8 metres of swimsuit fabric piled in the living room, waiting to be cut out and sewn together! But those will get posted later. :D

Aaaand now for the pictures from today. :D I hung around for an extra three hours with the trainers, who took me through the pens/tanks backstage to meet all the animals. There's a dolphin there who's pregnant right now, named Sonar, and she's due any week.. I can't wait! There's 8 other dolphins, 3 in the tank I work in, and 5 in the indoor aquarium. Then I also get the sea lions, the walruses, and the harbour seals.

This is Gary, giving commands to the harbour seals.

Will, playing with the oldest [sea lion? I can't remember, but I swear it is] that they have.. When I saw him I immediately thought of BettaMomma because he's completely blind. The only way to lead him around is by keeping in constant contact with him.

Gary, out on stage with Buttercup, practicing her commands.

More Gary and Buttercup..

Okay, I have a thing for Buttercup.. lol But she took such amazing pictures, and Gary managed to convince her to pose for the camera.

Another Gary and Buttercup.. Gary told her to lay down, and he went nose to nose with her, but I didn't press the button in time to catch the shot.

Buttercup just recently learned to whistle, and she's been doing it non stop!

I tried to get decent pictures of the outdoor dolphins, but every time I clicked the camera they went back underwater.. they're plotting against me, I swear!
I did, however, get the indoor dolphins during a training session.

Leda [I think] and Gary..

One of these is Storm, I can't remember the other one, but they never leave each other's side when they're in a session.

And I feel terrible about this, because I can't remember this poor bugger's name either! He's going blind, I think, which is why his eyes look scary.. he's also in the indoor AQ, and he was begging for a fish in this shot:

Aaaand that's all I have for now.. I go back for orientation Monday, and start rehearsing shows on Wednesday. And then I'm hoping to have my costume done, so I'm going to convince either Gary or Will to take a picture of me in it on stage, being a dork. Perhaps they'll even let me feed Buttercup a fish for a picture! :D

WOW, that is so awesom!!!!!

YAY FOR YOU!!!!

Now you BETTER show us your costumes!!!!!!!      :hyper: :hyper:
No worries, turns out my boyfriend's car is shot [the brakes are dead! :(] so he and I can't go out tonight, so we're just going to do something tomorrow instead when he can get the van.

So that means I can do my costume tonight! :hyper: I can't believe how much fabric I got for $55.. most of it was 50% off, so that worked out really well. :D

Im soooo jealous! wow you are so lucky! I can see you had fun soi wont even ask how it was for you! :D

great pics! we want to see the costume! and you'd better get someone to get pics of you jester...umm...ing--yeah, jestering (i love making up words)

Man that is awsome Littlefishie! Congrats on getting that great job! Hope it all works out! The facilities look top notch, animlas look like they are kept very healthy, and the people look like they care!

They're VERY well taken care of, miagi.. I swear, those animals eat more than they should, they're pigs! Buttercup alone had about 3 buckets of fish in the 4 hours I was there..

Aaaaand since there are costume demands..
I worked my butt off for you people!
I started cutting out and pinning fabric together around 6, here it is midnight and I've got just a few seams left on the top, and the pants are almost done [but not yet wearable for photos..]

Some stuff for the top pinned and laying out on the cutting table..

Me working my butt off at the sewing machine! I was working on the pants here, and YES that is an elastic tied around my head.. it's for the waistband of the pants. It got worse though. Later I was wearing scraps tied on my head just cos I could..

Closeup shot.. The yellow flaps in the centre are going to have little hooks sewn on them tomorrow to lace it up with red cord like a corset.

Somewhat full shot.. I'm still not too happy with the shoulders, even though they're not done yet because I have to use a double needle on it and I've no idea how to get it into the machine.. But they just keep falling off, it's getting irritating. Thoughhh you can see my lovely new bikini [sorta! just the straps lol] that I had to buy cos it fit under my wetsuit and other ones didn't.

...aaaand when I finish the costume tomorrow I'll do my hair and everything and take pictures :D

That is incredible! I fancy myself a sewer... but i dont think I could pull something like that off! That will look gorgeous when it is done. I can't wait to see it in action. No doubt the crowd will love it!

It'd drive you mad making this.. hell, it's driving ME mad making it. Ever tried to sew swimsuit fabric? Special needle, special presser foot, special stitch.. if you screw up it takes an hour to remove 4 inches of bad stitching cos it's a stretch stitch..

I'm a bit scared to wear it for a show now  I've just been sitting here in it and already the top's falling off my shoulders! Possibly time for some adjustments in the morning.. I'm pretty sure now that I made it a size larger than I should've.

Is it bad that I want to put sequins on this so I will sparkle and catch the audience's attention? lol

:p LOL, the most i ever made in Home economics class was a cushion and my pencil case! And i got full markd for both! :D

Looking like a little jester Littlefishie!

Swim suit material is aweful to use. I have made a few figure staking outfits out of it.

That won't be easy to alter either... should you decide to take it down a size. that will probably look better (not that it doesn't look good now) if it more closely fits your body.

Sequins would look awesome... not a ton, just enough to notice - you don't want to blind the audience!
