I Harth Darth
I went in for a meet & greet and big tour today, and got to meet most of the trainers who are closer to my age. Which was awesome. I discussed costumes with Nick and he LOVED the pattern I picked out and said to make two, so I went and picked up the fabric this afternoon. $55 later, I've got almost 8 metres of swimsuit fabric piled in the living room, waiting to be cut out and sewn together! But those will get posted later.
Aaaand now for the pictures from today. I hung around for an extra three hours with the trainers, who took me through the pens/tanks backstage to meet all the animals. There's a dolphin there who's pregnant right now, named Sonar, and she's due any week.. I can't wait! There's 8 other dolphins, 3 in the tank I work in, and 5 in the indoor aquarium. Then I also get the sea lions, the walruses, and the harbour seals.
This is Gary, giving commands to the harbour seals.
Will, playing with the oldest [sea lion? I can't remember, but I swear it is] that they have.. When I saw him I immediately thought of BettaMomma because he's completely blind. The only way to lead him around is by keeping in constant contact with him.
Gary, out on stage with Buttercup, practicing her commands.
More Gary and Buttercup..
Okay, I have a thing for Buttercup.. lol But she took such amazing pictures, and Gary managed to convince her to pose for the camera.
Another Gary and Buttercup.. Gary told her to lay down, and he went nose to nose with her, but I didn't press the button in time to catch the shot.
Buttercup just recently learned to whistle, and she's been doing it non stop!
I tried to get decent pictures of the outdoor dolphins, but every time I clicked the camera they went back underwater.. they're plotting against me, I swear!
I did, however, get the indoor dolphins during a training session.
Leda [I think] and Gary..
One of these is Storm, I can't remember the other one, but they never leave each other's side when they're in a session.
And I feel terrible about this, because I can't remember this poor bugger's name either! He's going blind, I think, which is why his eyes look scary.. he's also in the indoor AQ, and he was begging for a fish in this shot:
Aaaand that's all I have for now.. I go back for orientation Monday, and start rehearsing shows on Wednesday. And then I'm hoping to have my costume done, so I'm going to convince either Gary or Will to take a picture of me in it on stage, being a dork. Perhaps they'll even let me feed Buttercup a fish for a picture!
