I was reading a thread on here a while back by BIG C about making wooden boxes lined with Pond liner and it got me to thinking about making a U shaped holding VAT around the length of my shed as one big tank that could be spilt up at various points around it to make different sized pens. The VAT would be roughly 7ft in length down either side by 14 inches high by 14 inches wide and the short part will be roughly 4-5ft long and again 14 inches high and 14 inches wide. My questions are would this work and what strengthing would I need to put into it. Would it be possible to make it out of PLY and then line the box with Pond liner?

Cheers for the advice

you could make something like that but I would make it deeper, (usually a couple of feet high). Shallow water heats up pretty quickly in the sun and you could cook the fish on a hot day.

1/2 - 1inch Plywood would work (on a 2ft hgh pond, thinner wood for shallower container of 14inches high) but you would want plenty of uprights and probably even some cross members (running across the top to hold the sides together).
When it's finished just put a plastic liner in it.
