Yay!.....it's about time someone done a coldwater marine setup.
In answer to your question mate then no, you don't use the live rock we normally use as the Indonesian rock requires a warmer temp for all the organisms and hitchikers etc. With the LR in rockpools expect to see just a load of green hair algae! Lol
It's simply a case of finding a decent rockpool and from there you can get your LR, substrate, CUC, fish (mainly blennies) and best of all Beadlet anemones.
There was a topic on here not ao long a go (think it was ps3stevo) and he had a coldwater setup full of different colour anemones, reds, browns, greens etc as well as shrimp, starfish and crabs.
You won't need a heater but you might need a chiller especially for the summer months and regular wc is a must. Especially in a small tank. Remember that rockpools get a natural wc twice daily when the tide comes in.
In terms of feeding then I suppose it would be the same as tropical with brine, mysis shrimp and flake.
One thing I would say is tho is you wouldn't need intense lighting. T8's would probably suffice as obviously rockpools around the UK rarely see the sun.....................just clouds and rain!
If you live near a beach then it would be worth getting a few gallon of natural sea water just after the tide has come in at least then you know you'll be getting replenished sea water full of pods/ plankton etc.
If you google coldwater marine you'll find quite a lot of info on setting up and maintaining one.......I should know as I already looked! Lol
