i decided that velvet needed some action so i decided to divide up my 2.5 (btw velvet was acting just like a betta today but yea anyway) and put velvet and freckles in it! well about an hour later EFFING FRECKLES GOT THROUGH!!! i was crying trying to catch freckles to move him but he kept attacking velvet!!! :-( im so horrible!!! well needless to say poor lil velvet is like plloom now ... not dead just not alive ethier :-( :-( :-( :-( im so upset!! god poor velvet he probly wants to kill me!

i have had boys break through their dividers before. you will be surprised what they can survive. one of my gulys had ribbons flowing from his body instead of fins and the other had almost no tail!

the best way i've found to divide tanks is to buy a divider that is too big and then cut it to fit, or just slightly bigger than the width of the tank, then use aquarium sealant and report cover bindings to hold the barrier in place.

keep the boys in nice sparkly clean water, watch out for any bacterial/fungal infections to set in. i actually did a preventative course of anti-bactierial and anti fungal meds, and salt, but i don't know if that is necessary if you do frequent water changes and keep your eyes peeled for any bad signs.

hope that helps!!

here is the thing velvet is dieing :( and he was in bad enough shape as it was.... frekcles is fine!!! he is in no way wounded!!! :/ i feel so bad!!

You shouldn't feel so bad, you obviously didn't mean for them to break the barrier. Hopefully Velvet will pull through. Just have hope.

i wanna cry he is just laying there :-( i dont know what to do.. it makes me so sad to see this! ... he is laying on the bottom of the tank!!! he is breathing but slowly i have an airstone in there and to be safe i put some bettafix in there!! and some prime!

its not your fault, these things happen. iv had my boys jump the dividers too, but my fish are pretty harmless, big pansies really, not a n aggressive bone in their bodies. im sry that this has happend to you, i can only imagine how guilty u feel, but ur original intensions were for the best, its not ur fault that your fish had other plans. all i can suggest is keeping the injured fish in and 3 inches of clean medicated water with a bubble wand. im not sure on how bad he's injured because i wasn't there, but any information on his injuries would be helpful in determining presisely what meds should be used.

ok he already was in horrible shape :-( but freckles rippped um of his scales off and he tore some of his bottom fin! ok well velvet is eating sum but im not to sure he is like freckles i dont think he likes flakes... im gonn go get him some pellets 2morrow and im gonna go get a bubbles wand so i can do what you said!! i would turn on his filter but he is stuck to it every mornin when i wake up :-(

AHHH EDIT:: SUM OF HIS SCALES... not all sum sorry guys!

wow that other fish is a violent one. definately melafix and salt (make sure u you a diluted doseage of melafix) try you best to get some food into him, i definately recommend frozen blood worms. he's in bad shape but not beyond saveing. how long ahve u had him and what do u mean by "he was in bad shape alredy"?

sorry, about that, that's never happened to me. but i do that all the time, just putting dividers between the fish.

well he ate some more this mornin!!! and i just did a 100% water cahnge and lowered the water level to about 4 inches, but until i get that wand he is having to use an airstone!!! ummm i was wanting to know! if a betta lives in a cup is it possible for his swimmming muscles to deteruarerarknhskyo.0 ... uh go away!?!?! cause my babies front fins dont move at ALL!! its kinda sad... my BF flipped cause he got to touch velvet and normally bettas dont do that so yea now my BF is worried!! he is right now kinda sickly thin and is slanting to his side! im gonna ask my dad to buy some fresh peas and see if that doesnt spice him up and oh yea guppydude i really can only get him to eat like 2 flakes!! he turned down blood worms  YIKES!!! none of my fish do that!!! but yea this is all for now... i will posting his everymove so if he sneezes i will tell you guys about it :p

fresh food would be the best for him but if he wont eat it then juts fill him up with anything u can get into him. an air stone will be fine, just anything to get some circulation in the water, i just suggested bubble wand because wasn't sure about what you had in the way of equipment. if he's made it this far he stands a very good chance of survival, just keep on doing what your doing and keep us updated

Edit: and yes bettas can lose the use of certain mussles from being in a small cup too long. wen i get bettas in a cup i userally see that they regain use of those mussles in a week or so, they just need room to work them

thanks alot i will keep updating you guys on his condition!!!! good cause he is in a half filled 2.5 gallon tank... is that enough room?!?!?
