Yea they seem to be typical prices for F1. And my tank went cloudy like that when i first put sand in... 2 days later it were crystal.

I was appaled in shops its like 10+£ for one afra and in some cases is 25£ for one, and I bet they aint even F1, Lucky I found this guy

As far as getting the sand settled, you can add Poly fill(I think that is what it is called) to you filter it works great at getting out the small sand particles that are always being stirred up. I have used this on 2 of my sand bottom tanks and with in a few hours the water is almost clear.

As far a cycling goes you could add some of the used media from your other tank to the new filter, within a few days you should have a decent level of bacteria growth, you will have to feed them during that time period.

think ammonia burns the fish somehow and I know nitrite suffocates them, so it's important to keep up on water changes during the cycling process. And make sure to aim spray bars and stuff at the surface of the water to aid aeration especially during this time. Raise your temp to about 80 degrees F as bacteria grow faster when warmer.

Just a quick warning, as the temperature goes up the Oxygen level goes down. So by raising the temp you could be contributing to the suffocation of your fish. I think 80 should be OK though.

Ok ive pointed the filterhead at the surface and now theres much more agitation on the surface. I think ive got polywool some white cotton stuff came with the juwel filter and it said put at the top and it was called polysomething so I pressume it is this polyfill you speak of

You might want to be careful about doing what wslinky said.. it works for some filters but for some its not a good idea. I took out an old one and havent been able to fix it.. That sand can get stuck in the motor shaft and just te it to pieces. In some cases aryou might be ok though. Just thought i would let you know. i think your best bet would be to wait a day then just siphon out the small particles thats just me haha... dont know why my last post had an unhappy face : / who knows lol anway !

Ive just bought some Scolofi F1's, Four for £20

These are not the ones im having but they are from the same stock that my friend had some of also, so it gives me and you guys a good idea

Just a bit of a update....Water is clear, Rocks are in and I have bought 3 C.Afra.

Camera Is playing up atm try to fix it and you can have pics.

Ones is quite a biggen, the other two look smaller....Im not sure I think they may be Coube well i hope more then think

Well I just did some Looki Looki, and the one it looks most like are the Cynotilapia afra Jalo Reef.
Im getting my scolofi soon and thinking of purchasing some bumble bee's and P. Zebra

LOL Mine are supposed to be...LOL so they should be! I have 2 that I don't think are....but the guy did send me 3 extra fish w/my order.

Ok im getting pics tmorrow so I thought Id update you on the fish I bought after the past week or so:

3x Auratas (I know these are agressive and will be ridding of them soon I think)
2x Syndontis Petrolica, Adding another 2/3 Next thursday
2x Yellow Labs
4x Apple Snails XD
4x Scolofi Going in on monday
and Ive bought some more rock aswell...

So basically ive been warned about the Auratas agressiveness and that they are little sods, But I kinda feel sorry for them. My Afra is a serious bad boy and dosent take no aggro, he has got all three of those auratas under control and its been 4-5 Days, I was really suprised at how agressive the Afra has been, but he isnt going out of his way to get them its only if anything goes in his cave. I can tell he is the dominant male just by his colors.

and erm, my Syno's are great, Glad I went for the petricola.

Yeah Alot more mate.....getting payed thursday, and depending on the payment its either gna be the FX5 or alot of rock and fish next
