haha thats awesome! im not to keen on sutton bridge i dont go out...

also im 17 =/ ^^ i got the spalding grammar, im in 6th form just to let you know randomly!

I was extremely close to go marine infact, my only problem was (well dad) was getting saltwater weekly/fortnightly.

where do you get yours?

nice meeting you by the way :)

Bagu

And you too.

I get my water from the wyevale garden centre in crowland.

I work at Morrisons and probably work with quite a few of your fellow pupils.

I would proper knock the freshwater on the head.

I ran fresh and saltwater tanks but when the crunch came and i had to cut down it was marine all the way.

you wouldn't need much more to set up your tank really. Another powerhead, live rock and saltwater would get you started.

There is a guy in boston who sells live rock at a very reasonable price.

haha, i have a mate called will Tootell who works there ;)

i went baytrees yesterday, trying to see some nice colorful fish; but still no luck!

im going wyvale soon ;) infact i was going to buy my marine tank from there a month back, but then the nmbers started adding up =(

tank was around £160 (i got my 84L orca for £80 from baytrees ^^)
then live rock they said about £110
water would be i THINK £10 a week =/ <-- mainly what put me off =(
and protein skimmer, live food, sand etc

maybe in a years time ill go marine :) haha

thanks trod.

As with any other aspect of fishkeeping the deals are in the 2nd hand and online areas.

For an 80 litre tank you would need approx 8 kgs of live rock. This you could get for around £50 - £60.

Water is £7.00 for 25 litres. you are reccomended to change 10% a week so the 25 litres would last approx 3 weeks.

unsalted water is £3.50 for 25 litres. This would be used for your topping up. This would last you around 5 weeks.

Dig around for the bargains and big savings can be found.

Lots of help available on here. Ask as many questions as possible.

P.S. Avoid Baytree if you can. Very suspect fish quality. Lots of dead fish in the tanks.

Wyevale is a little more expensive but the stock is kept to a much higher standard. Plus they have marine and very knowledgeable staff.

hey!

i understand what you are getting to, i wish i had waited instead of going out and spending my money on an 80L tank. My dad told me to wait; but i wouldn't take any of it =(, knowledge is power! And what d'ya know, i find fish tanks being given away for peanuts! like 125 tanks with full filtration, fishes and all the other bits! unbelievable!

And i completely agree! Baytree does have some really poor conditions for the fishes, i see alot of dead ones; infact i went in and complained to the fish keeper "master" and told her that all of the clown loaches had white spot! i felt like an old bloke xP. Pets at home in King's Lynn are very nice i think! im going there possibly tomorrow to buy a Dwarf Puffer :) And yes, wyvale is superb; when i was going to the salty side, the staff new everything! They even wrote down a list of internet links and a sheet with info and prices etc!

You are a great person to chat too, and those figures are looking very friendly, the Live Rock looks a decent price too!

The live rock is good quality too. i've had 2 batches off him and lots of good beasties came crawling out.

Does pets at home in lynn have marine? i know the one in peterborough is cold and fresh water only.

Be careful with the dwarf puffers. Quite temperamental.

I had one which sulked a lot. a few others that were a little better. Proper mardy fish.

Need a supply of brineshrimp to keep the beak trimmed and will eat any snails or shrimp present in your fw tank.

There is another local (ish) shop to try and that is woodthorpe aquatics. It is just outside a village called alford near mablethorpe.

Impressive hardware / Fish / knowledge. Place is massive. Well worth the hour drive to get there.

Hey!

they don't stock marine, if they did then I wouldv'e easily gone marine lol!

haha, im getting the puffer either today or sunday (pets at home or wyvale) ;D tanks all ready for him!

I'm getting frozen bloodworms and also collecting the odd snails i see around the tank ;)

btw hows your marine tank coming along?

Bagu

Ok just posting a few pics of the frags i received from Crazyfishes a few weeks back.

They have been sat on the sand bed since they were acclimated and i have got round to securing them to the rockwork.

First one is my Fragspawn. the single head is about 3 x 2 inches and extends nicely in its moderate flow.

This is my hammer. 2 heads one about an inch across the other about twice that.

And finally the latest fts. All corals especially the mushrooms seem to be looking better since i started increasing the magnesium levels. Maybe this is my mind playing tricks on me.

I am so glad that the frags are thriving; you wait in a years time they will be at least 3-4 times bigger and the polyps expansion will be bigger. I must say I am very impressed with their location as well. The frogspawn is always the more light hungry of the two and moderate current is spot on. Keep us updated shame no close up of the hammer pictures got muddled, surely more to follow.

By the way congratulations on the little one ??Zak??

Regards
