55 Gallon

I think I've decided on the fish. As you know, the Ropefish will be going in. I will most likely get a Senegalus Birchir along with a pair of Gold Servums. I may add some more fish.

SCRATCH THE PREVIOUS POST. Dwarfs, I hope you read this. I called my LFS and they can specail order me a "Blue Spotted Gudgeon"! Is this the same as a purple, just different colors? I'm so exited! I'm definately getting one of these! :D :D :D

EDIT: they said that they have the same temperment as PSG's but, different colors.

I called the store to get more info. They said that I can put two in, and they can order them in for me and I'll have them by next Wednesday. The LFS lady said that she can order me a larger in size pair. I agreed and I'm quite happy. The order isn't final so, if something is wrong like falso info from them, I can cancel, because she orders them on Mondays and they come in on Wednesdays. She is going to be calling me tommarow with the prices, but, I'm not really concerned about the money. ;)

never heard of a blue spotted gudgeon , ask at the shop for the scientific name , most likely it's the same fish , not sure about 2 in the same tank big Mo jumped out of my sons tank when little Mo was much smaller . They behave kind of like cichlids [ to us anyway ] , so there may be some aggression towards members of the same species ,a male and female pair could possibly be a big prob , not to scare you off , I'll tell my son you were asking for him , in the mean time try asking CFC , maybe by PM , he helped us with many questions .

You're looking to here Mogurnda Mogurnda from the shop owner , or at least Mogurnda as the first part of the scientific name as there are other genus in the species .

Also , glad you were able to find some  .

Thanks for the help. The shop is very knowledgeable, but I don't really trust them with puffers.(Won't get into that). But anyhoo, should I just buy one? I think the Gudgeon with just called a "Blue Gudgeon". And you're right, it's most likely a PSG. They said it would be fine as a pair, but, I'm concerned now when you say "big problem" . Would a female/female or male/male pair do better?

EDIT: Alos, I have TONS of rocks to make hiding places so, would agression be reduced if they had many hiding spaces?

It can be hard to sex them , 2 of the same sex may just go after each other , a mated pair can become aggressive toward your other fish[ poss very aggressive ]

CFC may be on now , PM him and ask for his thoughts , he has bred at least one of the Mogurnda species .And be well aware of how they react with other species.
little Mo gets along great with his tankmates , as did big Mo .

hiding places should be helpful .

Well, I will probably get just one, jut because it can lead to problems, like you said. When they call back tommarow, I'll just tell em' to order one.

That's awesome! It's probably a wrong name, I doubt there are "blue spotted gudgeons" so they're probably PSGs :D Mine did fight, but one was twice as big as te other  With plenty of hiding places and, since it is a big tank, two would be fine. That depends on how much they cost, and how much you want to spend :p

WEll, just because I love them so, much, cost really isn't going to sway me. :D If they are like $20 each or lower that's more than fine. Anything over I need to scrounge up some more cash. I can't wait. Here's a picture of the tank. Do you think a Ropefish and Two of these guys will be okay in this enviroment, or should I just go for one Gudgeon?

I re-did the tank to make more hiding spots. The Gudgeons I'll be getting will be larger the woman said so, I'm a little worried about hiding spots. Is this suitible? I think I'll probably just get one, because I don't want a male and female to get aggressive because of breeding, and, I dont think they can sex them. Oh well, when she calls back, I'll tell her to order one. I hope its a PSG. :dunno:

Will they only get 2 ? , sometimes they have to buy several to make it worth while for them .

What size tank does your friend samsung have ?
You guys are friends right? unless I have you confused with someone else .

If you were to get 2 and it didn't work out well maybe you sell or trade it to samsung .[ samsung wouldn't you like a gudgeon ?  maybe
]

Like I said before I didn't mean to scare you , I was just giving a worst case scenario .

They are great fish , very interesting

Yeah, he's my best friend. I've known him since I was born. (Literally). He has a 30g tank. I could probably give him one if that's big enough for one Gudgeon. :dunno:

That's great that you're best Friends and for ever too  , what else does he have in the 30 , mogurndas grow to about 7" , and if his tank isn't crowded it could work .

I'd hate to see you get them and problems , but if you have a plan b , use it .

Run it by your buddy .

Good luck , the tank looks great .

I'm pretty sure he has:

A Butterfly fish

A couple Emerald Cories

A Black Ghost Knife (He's going to upgrade for this fish)

A few Firemouths (He's getting rid of these)

And a Couple BIG Balloon Mollies

That's his tank pretty much. If these guys a docile to other species he/she wil probably be okay.

But, If I get a male and a female, will they breed or be agressive toward other fish? If they are, I'll most likely just get one. :dunno:

I'm 98% sure that this guy is a male

Try to get two without humps, if they have them :)

When he gets rid of the firemouths the tank would be fine (If he wants the gudgeon)

Oops, if you're special ordering them you can't tell :*) Well atleast you can tell them apart anyway :dunno:

I think I'll just order one for now. Then later on, I'll order another if I can tell the sex and I get more hiding spots. Thanks for the help.
