If you want something low maintenance, I suggest using moss (either java, christmas or willow) attached at the tips of twigs/small-branch-looking-bogwood to simulate the trees. It would look awesome if you have enough 'trees' to fill the lower part of the tank --- it will give it a really woodsy/dark type of forest look. Also attach anubias nana on rocks so the bottom of the trees doesn't look too bare. Anubias are best kept NOT under direct light, so their location under the 'trees' are ideal.
First; Castle, Its about 1.5' tall, its pretty big, and reaches almost the top of my tank.
second, that is the wickedest idea ever.... my god that would look so damn cool, and i bet the fish would love it.
where would i get the sticks? could i get branches from a tree?
Does the moss grow out sort of bushy?? If im going to do something like this im going ot get really twiggy branches, and add to them to make them look like small trees, but it would look a little off if there is no bushiness to the "leaves"... i also really like the idea that the moss will grow, but the actual tree itself wont grow taller
I need a cave though, im thinking, some cabomba around the base of castle, just a bit, mixed in with something else, not sure what.
Then, a small forest, an actual, thick, bushy forest, the end of which leads to a cave opening.
the castle is huge inside, and is totally hollow all the way to its highest peak, it even has little tiny holes in the windows to let air out.
so there is lots of space for fish to hide in here, and plants will help that habitat a bit, but I also would like to try and put a few more places for fish to hide and "live" without taking up too much actual space in the tank or taking away from their swimming/living space.
