Looking good! Here’s my eBay betta boy in his 10 G. The red plants are in a pricey Fluval pellet like soil. Wouldn‘t stay in the little 3 oz cups I used as pots. I read the pellets do better with gravel on top. idk

Do you have a filter?

I am going to try it filterless. If I have issues I’ll buy a small sponge filter.

Looks great! If the plants grow well, you won't need a filter. However, I must point out the the budgie doesn't fit your biotope. Better get a red-breasted parakeet. Tell your parents it's necessary for scientific integrity.

It's mainly the fact that I can't be bothered to find a palette. Out of all the great things about pixel art palette-creating is my least favourite.

I forgot to update! The tank is filled and the betta is in. The driftwood is floating of course so it looks bad right now. I will update with photos in the morning! Hopefully the driftwood sinks overnight...
