5*3*2 Iwagumi

Ahhh ok, just had visions of it right above the water and seeing steam rising :p

Here are a Few pix before the new Lighting Goes On Today.
Teh Far Corner is where the Hermits Live and they have a Waterfall in there as well to kep it nice and Humid.
They spend most of the day inside the Ivy and then come down when it is cooler to feed by the waters edge.

That Whole Side of the tank is Stacked Slate, creating a network of Caves and Crevices for the Dwarf Cichlids and Red Claw Crabs

wow love the hermit crab cave bit :hyper:

The hermit thing is pretty cool, arnt u afraid of them escaping?

I was thinking the same thing.

Thanks,

No worries about them escaping, they have no need to. Its damp and humid.
and the only escape route they have is straight into the tank. but i have made provisions for them if they ever fall into the water. All of the palladrium is surrounded with masses of Java Moss. so even if they do fall they can't drown as the Java Moss will catch them and they can crawl back out.
Plus i have Now Planted Emersed Hygro to make a nice thicket blocking access to the water. they get all the water they need from the waterfall that they have access to.

I might dedicate the bottom section of the stand just to them and make a proper enclosure with a proper beech with little pools and caves and real planting fr them to graze on and all sorts of stuff.

I take it you like hermit crabs? Do you think that they know they have it so good?

Shame you couldn't use real plants in that spot. The ivy is plastic, right? Ever tried Pothos? I grow sprigs of it in my betta tank and then plant it, so it can be submerged partially and loves damp conditions. It is also something of a climber that likes shade. Perhaps something to think about for that section where the ivy is now. It is virtually impossible to kill.
