5*3*2 Iwagumi

Looks fantastic Gill! :good:
I take it you didn't let on to the wife how much you spent... :hey:
Give me warning and I'll set aside 3 hours for you, I've never had to catch so many fish in one go and the practice does me good!

Yeah, she has asked where that much money dissapeared to    , but I just Fobbed her off.

It Also Did not help that Rob let me have any fish for under a Quid on Saturday Afternoon as he was closing for a week. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

i'll give you plenty of warning when i am going to come down next. will probably be next pay day now, as i have overspent

How are the fishes doing with the dwarf puffers? I'm thinking the fin nipping will not be a problem becuase of the size of the tank.

BTW I love the cories.

I also love the cories. The tank is so huge and well-planted that I imagine that there will be little agression as the puffers will be able to establish their own little territories once they settle.

Gorgeous tank, Gill. Sorry I took so long to post, but I wanted to see what the tank looked like when the water cleared up a bit. Look forward to seeing this one develop over the years.

Looking good Gill, keep us updated with lots of pics ;)

If you are growing marginal plants in this setup then you might want to take a look at marginal species of Canna, a plant native to tropical and subtropical America (similar to where some of the tank inhabitants come from I presume). Most Cannas are not marginal however the various hybrids of Canna Glauca are, originating from the wetlands of tropical America, distinguishable from non-marginal cannas by its slender foliage (compared to the banana leaf like ones of regular cannas).

Canna lilies are a favourite plant of mine so I recently read about these marginal ones and thought they were worth pointing out.

Thanks llj,

I love the tank and how it looks.
yeah the puffers are doing great. have lost a few to the powerhead, but thats fixed now.
thinking of adding some crabs this weekend as the carrion crew for the tank. they would have tons of room to explore and land above the water line for displaying.

Gill thats looking great m8 i wish we all could have the space for that tank.....

Guys is this good enough lighting
HIGH QUALITY 500 WATTS FLOODLIGHT IN BLACK WITH DIE CAST ALI CONSTRUCTION AND HIGH EFFICIENCY COOLING FINS,COMPLETE WITH R7 240v 119mm 500w LAMP,GLASS

i think you would want more than just one unit, say like 2 x 150W Mh, Mh can be very focused so you will only get that lighting on one area of the tank, if you had two seperate 150W/200W units then you could arrange them to get the best light coverage. and your gonna need the right bulbs, between 6000k and 8000k

wil order them today,.

Guys i am redoing the tank over the next week.
Will be doing a Palladrium so that the Hermit Crabs and Red Claw Crabs and any other animals i add have somewhere to go.

so watch this space.

You could just add a small lifted tank filled with substrate to the edge for a land part ;)

MMMMMmmmmmmm never thought of that. oh well its built now and has settled. packed in plenty of soil and sand and gravel so that the structure could bed itself down.

I have insulated the land area with polysterene sheets so that hermits are nice and warm/humd and surrounded it with silk plants and Ivy's also added lots of resin bogwood, left over from the 4footer. The crabs love exploring all day long. theyhave been exploring all the nooks and crannies in the bogwood caves and climbing around in the silk plants.

went to the garden centre this morning and picked up some nice moisture loving ferns, and have planted those in the plataeu near to the waterfall.
also picked up more shells for the crabs to choose from.

been feeding them grapes and bananas and mango today. its so interesting to watch them feed.

Devuk is the only person to have seen it so far.

so watch this space.

I will :D

goood no pix untill the new lighting units arrive. and i get them hooked up.
