ps: how is he getting on with your rasboras? I was advised to go for a betta from a aquatic store that was already in a community tank - but im guessing that your little beauty wasnt? How is he doing with them? Sorry for all the questions - ive just been on the website you got yours from and ive fallen in love with all of them! Very much considering getting one from their now!

Hi -Jo-! Well all I can say is I had a very good experience buying online. This is the only time I've done it though. Read above to see pictures of how he was packaged/arrived. When you order online the seller will send them next-day shipping. My guy arrived at 8:30 in the morning and I unpacked him and started acclimating him to the new tank right away. So you do need to arrange for your fish to be delivered on a day you're at home. In my case he was sent by Royal Mail.

You're right he was kept on his own in his previous home but he's getting along fine with everyone. He does tend to occasionally stalk all of his tank mates however they completely ignore him, it's very comical. In the end he just looks like he's following them around like a lost puppy!

I did get all of my other fish first and add him last so I don't know if that made a difference. I can't recommend that seller enough, they are more than happy to work closely with you to get you all of the info/help you need

The only issue I've had so far was around feeding time but we're through that now. I think feeding a community tank where all of your fish have slightly different needs may require a little more thought especially if you end up with a fussy betta like myself. If he eats anything you plonk in the tank (like many do, as I've read on this forum) then you're A-OK!

Brilliant! Thank you for your reply! Its very helpful in my decision making! (and believe me - I need all the help i can get as im constantly changin my mind! ha!)

At the moment I have 4 Kuhli Loaches, 5 Glowlights and 3 red eyed tetras (unfortunaly I am having to get rid of the red eyed tetras as they are being a bit of a pain and probably will end up harrassing the betta when I get it). When they go, I am thinking of getting 2 more glowlights and possibly 2 more loaches to bring them out of their shell a bit - I bearly see the loaches :-(

Thank you for letting me know about the mail handling - out of everything thats my main worry. Its quite expensive (with the shipping on top of the betta itself) so I was more concerned about the state he would arrive in.....hopefully not the floating kind.

There is definitly more of a selection of betta on this website then I would ever expect to find in the shops. I have my eye on the Halfmoon Blue Betta!

I definitely think he's FOTM worthy. Might I ask where you bought him from?

Thanks! I feel all warm and fuzzy inside haha

I got him from Finz n Tailz Aquatics, I highly recommend them. He's got a webpage, youtube AND ebay but his Facebook is probably the way to go - I'd be happy to give you the link :)

I'm also not really a Betta fan but that one is special. He'd win FOTM for sure.......... :hyper:

........and those are Sterbai Corys right? Awesome!

Yep they are and are such cool little guys! I'm watching them zoom all over the tank glass right now :)

The Sterbai Corys are near impossible to find here in North Carolina but we have the Three Lined False Juliis so it's all good.

Me again! Since my last post I've been practicing my photography skills and while I do have a fairly basic camera (Fuji FinePix F300EXR) things are improving! As soon as I get better lighting I think I'll be able to spot a real difference :) I'm hoping to enter my beta into FOTM this month but haven't been able to snap "the one" yet.

Because my little notepad where I keep track of my water test results ran out of space I started putting it all into a spreadsheet. And because I'm a total saddo, this led to me putting my cycling figures into a thrilling chart for you all! yay!

So far I haven't had any spikes in ammonia or nitrite. My nitrate does read a little higher than I would like but we do have nitrate in our tap water so in some ways it's a losing battle. I sooo look forward to testing day when I get get out my little chemistry set (as my husband calls it) and get perfect results each time!

I'm also going to cut together a little video of my tank which I'm sure will be VERY underwhelming but I'll post that in a couple of days time.

Isn't it funny how one hobby can spawn many others?

Just some new pics really!

I've posted these elsewhere but what the heck :p

I picked up some LED spotlights in an attempt to brighten my tank for taking pictures. In the end they didn't make much difference but I really like how they look with the main tank light off!

I'm ordering some black sand so I'm pretty excited about that I wish I'd of done it from the start!!

lol We are never done with our tanks. I am always "done" with my tank and then change something else. I think yours looks soo clean and lovely already. The sand will be great for the cories :good:

Aw thanks FishFanatic04, that means a lot! I sometimes get kind of embarrassed of my tank because I have silk plants lol one day I'll be brave enough to give real plants a try :) I do like the vibrant colours of my silk ones tho

Woo! I got my Caribsea Tahitian Moon Black Sand today - well excited. Turns out it's not so easy to get in the UK and explains why I paid £35.00 for a 20Lb bag! It says on the label that it's from Florida, hmmm if I was still in "the motherland" it might have paid off on this one! Also it comes with something called "Bio-Magnet Clarifier" which I'm supposed to treat the tank with to clear the water - any idea what that's all about?

I'm planning on making the change before the week is out and as you might expect I'll be posting a stupid number of pictures afterwards :p
