Elegance corals are typcially categorized as LPS, yes.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I always love sharing with all of you

Ski, i gotta say, your tank looks more and more beautiful with every set of pics you post! Your corals are growing beautifully!!!

Ok THATS IT, the mushrooms are going. Just had another loose one go and attack my elegance coral. Much to my dismay the stinkin mushroom won the battle (so much for the "strong" sting of an elegance) and I have a bunch of "singed" tentacles on part of the Elegance. If it starts to enflame and I have to frag my favorite coral cause of an M Fing dirt cheap mushroom I might just loose my mind :shout:  :<. All mushrooms that can be taken out of the tank will be removed from the tank tomorrow. Stragglers and individuals will be placed in the mantis nano and the main colony is going to the LFS. These Gdamned things are just too prolific and they sting everything.

Hope this is a lesson to everyone, watch your corals CLOSELY cause aggression issues can be worse than you think.

Put em in the Frag Swap, and get some SPS in return, your LFS is bound to give you squat! :good: Yep, pay attention to Ski's advice and experience, Mushrooms burn alot of stuff, they are definitely potent.

Heh, ironically someone in my club wants the main colony, but the rest are gettin pulled for storage in the nano

Save the $$ and get the buckeye, everyone in my club raves about them. I actually have an "aquarium systems" model off ebay whose original owner (not me) had replaced the membrane with a new one (name of which escapes me currently). The majority of the quality of the RO system is in the membrane. Pre-filters and DI cartridges are all cheap and simple pieces of technology, its the membrane itself that should get the most scrutiny. Other than that, the filter cases, valves, fittings, etc are all easily serviceable if you have an inkling of DIY savvy :). Buckeye uses a great RO membrane though, I highly reccomend them

Well, the elegance started re-extending its tentacles tonight, so I've got some hope that it wasnt damged too badly. Seems like its making a full recovery. Gave away a bunch of shrooms today and put a bunch of stragglers in the new nano. Bringin home the syringe and the Joes juice tomorrow for the remainder and the aiptasia. Tank's gonna look wierd without em I think, but ultimately choices need to be made.

Also, I'll be saying goodbye to the temperature of 20f outside my house in 24 hours. If the weathermen are even remotely correct, I won't see a 2 in front of a temperature reading for over a week and nights will be in the single digits. Not looking forward to this... Where's the global warming when you need it? :dunno:

That is a mindblowing tank you have there
The colours are great! what colour temperature are they under? (Sorry if its been mentioned before buti have only skipped through the post due to its size)

Thanks for the compliments Nav, means a lot coming from an experienced reefer like yourself. The tank is lit by a single 175watt halide driven by an icecap electronic ballast and uses a Hamilton 14000k bulb. I also have two 18watt 50/50 (10k/actinic) for just a little extra light. Hood width constraints almoast prevent me from installing a full-length PC or T5 for supplimentation which I would have liked, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got thus far. In another 8-10 months when this halide is burned down and ready for replacement, I MAY consider a switch to a 250watter but we'll see where I am at that point :D

Thanks again for the praise Nav, can't wait to see your nano :D

Outside the Theatre, the temperature has plummeted to sustained levels the likes of which are rarely seen. Reef Command has not seen temperatures this cold in recent memory as it has been over 2 weeks since a two-digit temperature reading began with a 2 or higher. Furthermore, the nearby freshwater theatre of Lake Erie remains as yet un-frozen and resulting lake-effect snows have pounded Reef Command's headquarters. Snowfall and temperatures have kept Reef Command cooped up in their offices yet orders to retrieve new friendlies and orders to the Corps of Engineers to step-up battles against aiptasia along with another photo shoot have also been carried out. The guerilla aiptasia forces may have just met their match to a recent acquisition. Treatment by this latest method has yielded phenomenal results as the enemy has not been seen in 3 days since injection. These materials have also been instrumental in the mixing of various beverages that Reef Command and potential consorts enjoy :D

With the enemy either destroyed or sent into subterranean lairs by the citrus bombardment, the Corps of Engineers took to their next orders; Acquisition of new friendlies and photograps of the reef. Command also ordered a damage assessment on the friendly known as Elegance which suffered a friendly-fire incident from corallimorph mushrooms. The elegance had rebounded well from its attack and is beginning to re-extend its tentacles. Hopefully reef surgeons will not be required to intervene.

And the first new friendly, one Montipora Capricornis acquired for free as it was an un-timely victim of friendly fire in its previous theatre by a tube anemone.

Next up is a fragment of Pocillipora Damicornis allreay encrusting on its new substrate

And finally, an Acropora commonly known as "Green Slimer" since it reacts to any and all stressors by excreting lots of mucous

And to complete their assingment, the Corps has provided Reef Command and the Constituency a wide angle of the theatre as a whole
