40L/10g stocking suggestions??

I have a 40 litre (around 10 gallons) tank and I'm still deciding what to put in it.
It's going to be freshwater and I'd like to get more than one species in there, any suggestions?
Also, I don't want to have to feed fish live/frozen food, so any omnivorous or herbivore fish that can eat pellets, flakes, or even fresh veggies would suit me best.
Edit: I'm sorry I didn't include much information above. The tank dimensions are 20x7x18 inches (LxWxH) My water supply has a GH of 15mg/L and 7.4pH. if you need any more info please ask ╮(╯-╰)╭

A honey gourami would be good paired with a group of corys , then there also the betta route ,but depending on your bettas temper you may not be able to put any fish in with it, maybe share a picture of the tank now?

honey gouramis aren't available locally where I live, But corys are a very good idea... how many would be good to get?
I've thought about bettas a lot too, but I've heard they can be aggressive and territorial at times, so I don't know.

Oh how sad gouramis are great get minimum 6 but more is better, get a female betta they are more gentle usually, tetras and resporas can also be considered but I find it a bit boring

Also is your tank heavily planted?
corys are very hardy but they need a cave of sorts and some plants and leaf litter

I haven't put anything in it yet, I was thinking that I could pick which fish I want first then base the rest to suit their needs. I do plan on it having at least some live plants, but again dependant on the fish.

I would choose plants first since they need time to settle , I recommend anubias and Java fern both are pretty much unkillable

probably something like that, my tank is still pretty small so it really depends.

Nice,a betta natural environment is quite heavily planted so if you get a betta go with that .corys just like sandy substrate and tons of hiding spots

You could do a school of some of the smaller species, like Celestial Pearl Danio, Ember Tetra, some of the small rasbora species like Kubotai. I have kept Pygmy Corydoras in a 10 gallon. I had 8 of them and they worked out great. You could also do shrimp in a 10 gallon, as well as snails.
