Alright my 35g is just getting so boring to look at and i know i have room to stock some more fish in it so i will.

the tank is fully matured and heavily planted and heres my stock:

5 zebra danios
9 cardinal tetras
1 keyhole cichlid (she killed her partner...why i dont know?)
3 otto's

i really want a lively intresting fish, for my 10g i use to have a figure eight puffer and i though it was a great fish but i am well aware that if i put it in this community it will kill everything.

but do you guys have any ideas? im also thinking of getting rid of the keyhole cichlid since my uncle has alot of them in his 90g and he needs a female so why not?

all options are considered and thank you for your help in advance!

why dont you get a pair of rams or a big school of tiger barbs there always lively

hmmmmmmmmmmm, i had rams but they werent what i was looking for and i dont think i really need another school of fish.

2 is enough right? if it isnt maybe i should look

Oh and today i went to the fish store for algue wafers and i also picked up 6 cardinal tetras so im now up to 9

How about a Pleco? They are pretty cool and they can help to clean your tank too :) BTW, they LOVE algae wafers ;) I just bought my first today :)

The golden nugget pleco is really cool looking (and $40 at petsmart to boot) and won't grow to be enormous like the other varieties as I understand it. The problems with plecos IMO is that they don't like to be out during the day.

I just got a dwarf gourami (with the red bands) as a centerpiece and it's really quite beautiful, though not so interesting. If you want interesting, colorful and fun, try a school of serpae tetras. They're a nice red color and they remind me of a pack of dogs running around the tank - lots of fun to watch, similar to the danios.

hmmmm.....no a pleco doesnt really intrest me, in one of my other tanks i have a golden pleco and hes great and all but i wanna keep each tank varied.

Is another school really the answer?

i already have 2

alright im going to the fish store since i have to get some feeders for my pirhana (just ghost shrimp) and i think i might make the cardinal shoal even bigger and pick up 6 more.

then ill get another school.

how does that sound?

Maybe you could add some sort of shrimp, as they are quite different and might make a tank more interesting, though you have to get more then a couple, as they tend to hide. You also want to make sure that your current stock wouldn't bother them, though I'm not sure if they would or not.

Just another idea for you. :good:

i would get a couple of dwarf gouramis or perhaps a couple ctenopomas... depending on how many plants you've got. or maybe a pair of swordtails?

edit: almost forgot... CORIES! i love those guys. they bring life to any tank!

I've been a zebra danio/serpae tetra/swordtail kind of guy, and getting a dwarf gourami was by far the coolest fish to watch I've ever had. I've never seen cories - what is the scoop with them?

cory catfish... absolutely adorable fish! they are scavagers that search the bottom for excess food that has been dropped.

That one in the top picture looks almost just like my "Bandit". He's 1 of 5 single fish in my 29g comunity. i also have a single whitecloudmountainminnow, a marbled hatchet, and a black neon, because the rest or their schools died off, and a male betta. the rest of the fish in there are male guppies and a breeding pair of Corydoras aenus and some of their kids. I also have 1 frog. i want more frogs and more hatchets, and maybe more shwartzi cories. Oh, I almost forgot i also have single yoyo and coolie loaches in there. I like them, and want more, but you might not see them much when the lights are on. If you are doing more schools , I'd reccomend hatchets, because they are different.
What they say about cories is true too. Mine are everywhere and usually swimming up and down the wall in circles. They're curious little things. When i had cory fry in with mystery snails, the babies would swim up into the snail shells and tickle them and then dash away as if to say, "you can't catch me!".
If you get a yoyo loach that isn't always hiding you can read it. I like telling people to read my fish, and he does come out of hiding when he feels like it. shrimp are acually an interesting choice too. kinda fun to watch. Or how about upside down catfish? Or maybe see if you can find some headstanders or pencilfish, just to have somethong different. i love the squiggly wiggly little kuhli loaches, and I've heard that you see them more if you have more than 1. i hope to test that soon.
Frogs can be fun too. I'm a little surprized how easy it is to keep an ADF. Mine isn't super active most of the time, but she hunts like a tiny cat and tries to sneak up on snails, but I think she eats more fish flakes and pellets than live food.
Even apple snails can be surprizingly fun to watch, and they come in lots of colors, but i lost most of mine due to low ph and not enough minnerals for their shells. My first 1 was a little escape artist, and fullof surprizes, including several bunches of eggs on the ceiling that all hatched, even though she was the only 1 I had bought.
For a while I had some plants that added a lot of interest by blooming and looking a little different every day.

thanks for all the responses guys! im so happy!!!!

well tommorrow morning im going to the lfs, im buying some ghost ghrimp for my pirhana and goldfish (they like'em lol....is that alright?) and maybe ill keep 5-10 for my 35g

i think i might just get a mate for my keyhole....

and more cardinals and maybe another tiny school.

is that alright?
