Lately I've seen tons of topics asking about small plecos. So, I decided to compile a short list of plecos that are under 8". I got all of this info from planet catfish. This is a wonderful thread. I am finding people showing the love for Plecs lately. Not everyone can get a 100+ gallon tank. These smaller ones are a good addition. I currently have 2 Albino longfin bristlenose and 1 L162 Clown plec.

Gold banded peckolita? 10cm ish? (bit confused with all the "L" numbers so he may have already been included)

I have only just got into them since i met my aunts monster 12"

I love plecos, my friends think i'm weird. I'd love a leopard frog plec :)

I had no idea there were so many Plecos. Thank you onemrchristian for your topic this is very useful.

Are any of these not peaceful? I don't want to accidently get one that will hurt my betta or tetras.

Peckoltia species L038 120mm
Nice looking fish http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=665

8. Green pleco, lemon spotted green pleco, L200- 7.2" (180 mm)

This is the "hemi" variety. The "Bary" variety or hi-fin variety only grows 5.9" maximum ;)

I just recently learned this as I bought an L200 "Bary" recently.

Nope. Its a Hypancistrus which are Loricariidae. Even otos fall in the Loricariidae. Loaches like the clown loach are in the family Cobitidae, which are cypriniformes, which are carps/goldfish, minnows and loaches. Catfish are in the Siluriforme order.

Actually I think I'm right, planet catfish doesn't recognise the common name "Hong Kong plec" and a quick Google search reveals it to be a hillstream loach.
