29 gallon tank?

Also, the shrimp are happy!

My ZD occasionally nips them, is this normal?

They look good! Here is my DIY shrimp feeder...

It is the back, it’s kinda hard to see. Still no shrimp in there though and I put it in there 2 hours ago. Good news, my pleco found a hiding spot! It is on the back side of the driftwood piece, underneath it.
[/QUOTE. If he nips at them then he’ll probably eat them. They don’t have enough hiding places in there. Got anymore plants? Or stack some stones they can climb in. Looking good.

Ok, I’ll add more plants. He seems to be laying off of them for now. Next time I go to my LFS, I’ll look for some dark colored dragon stone, or large smooth river rocks. Do you think it would be a good idea to move the Anubias from my bettas tank into the 29g? Or the Java Fern?

As promised, here’s the tank that I re-scaped yesterday. Hopefully it can give you some ideas. Top is before and bottom is after. See how much better they look really full?

Wow! That is an amazing conversion! So my plan is to get some more long Anacharis and put it all along the back, next I’ll get some shorter Anacharis and I’ll put it right up against the driftwoods back. This will provide depth. Next I’ll move the Anubias or the Java Fern (which do you think would be best?) into the tank. What is the fasted growing/spreading carpeting plant or foreground plant you can think of? I’ve heard that dwarf hairgrass is good, what do you think?

Dwarf hair grass would be nice. Java moss tied to wood is good too.. I like anubias over swords. I am just beginning to branch out (pun intended) in plants so not the best to ask. @Byron, any suggestions for PheonixKingZ for his new tank?

Lol, ok, I’ll look into getting some Dwarf hairgrass. (After @Byron gives me suggestions. ;))

Once I save up enough $ I’ll get my hands wet (pun intended) with some zebra Danios! I plan to get 5. That is around $10-$12. I’ll probably be able to get them next month. Any suggestions on a centerpiece fish? (@Byron @seangee @Colin_T @Deanasue , Any help would be appreciated. :))

First off, update picture:

Secondly, I just called my LFS and they sell their ZD’s for $1.99 USD. That is just around $11-$12 including tax. The plants are all doing good. I’m just about to move my Java Fern over to my 29g, out of my 10g. After that, I’ll add more Anacharis behind the driftwood piece. Update pictures will be uploaded soon. :)

Looking good dude :good: might struggle with a centre piece fish with the zebra danios as their very active and most centre piece fish are sedate fish and prefer slightly warmer water temps. Ive got a 29g with zebra danios. I class my BN pleco as my centre piece fish :fish:

Ok, I do have a male albino BN pleco. Maybe I’ll just get some Zebra Nerite snails. Does anyone know a way to stop them from laying eggs? I know the eggs can’t hatch in fresh water, but I’m sick and tired of my ZNS laying eggs on my driftwood in my 10g.

You wont stop them laying eggs unfortuntely unless your lucky and have all males.

Gotcha. Though luck! Can mystery snails self reproduce?

Tank update: I did a sand vacuum (around 2g of water), I added more Anacharis in the back and I added the java Fern in the back left corner. I also added another piece of dark driftwood in the corner. I want to keep that corner sort of dark. (I’m plant/decor color) Enjoy! :)

Need a male and female with mystery snails to reproduce. Think they lay their eggs above the water line.

Nice group of cories and another schooling group could look pretty cool

Could I do the 6 Zebra danios and another schooling fish? I think I’ll get maybe 1 golden mystery snail.

As a centerpiece fish, could I do maybe a yellow dwarf Cichlid or a cockatoo Cichlid?

This might give you more ideas for a 29 gallon tank. There is an arched large piece of driftwwod in the middle that the fish swim through. Plants are anubias and water wisterea. Caves are made of flagstone and rocks. BN pleco hides behind and under the right side of the driftwood.
