Scroll down to see I am definetely going to do a marine with my 55gallon.However the 270gallon poll is still up.

After looking at some of the marine fish I may be able to have in my 270gallon I may try and convert it to marine, if I can scrounge the money. What do you think would be the best kind of set up for it?

...None of this will happen until next year, if it does atall.

Yep. Reefs will look good in any size tank, but IMO most predator tanks are better when they're larger! :p

plus fish have better personalities than corals.....

that could make a kickass reef, you can still have fish in a reef

yes but reefs are too common, be different, have a spectacular trigger fish tank or something like that. Dont be like everyone else, so many people have reefs, not many have big predatory fish tanks.

I think that reefs look good but that on a daily basis it wouldnt be AS interesting as a predator tank. Also, reefs will cost alot more to create than a FOWLR tank, just think of the lighting alone, nevermind the corals and LR. Having said that, marine is very expensive anyway

A reef tank is the way to go. You have all sorts of large fish that are reef safe. Also in a predatory tank you won't be able to keep invertebrates (many predatory fish will snack on inverts). Reefs are amazing, you look at them and you're like "WOW". A predator tank, no matter how nice, will never surpass the beauty of a reef tank.

Depending on how much money you have to throw at the tank I would have a mix! Go for a softy reef look. (no need for MH lighting Ca reactors and all that Bo****x) and have a LionFish

no no no...you guys are thinkin wayyyyy too small....what you need to do is gradually build up a farm of zoonathid thingys along the floor of the tank so its like a sort of carpet....then get some fish.....good idea me thinks

Hmm, well.I've just drilled (going to fit one of my 45 gals under it) my 55gal for marine.Any ideas for that?I would like a peaceful colourful set up, but with the bigger kind of fish you could have in it.As you probably know, people who don't know much about fish usually look at a tank and say it boring, or empty...But it's actually properly stocked.I would like to keep maintenance to the min...Especially since it will be my first marine, and it will be round my mums so and I only go there every 2 weeks.

Thanks!

Then you'll prolly only want a FOWLR. Wrasses, dwarf angelfish, gobies, all pretty easy to keep
