i really hope they hatch...and i feel sorry that the female couldn't go her full potential. many many babies i forsee.

I dunno....
Something strange is going on in there...
This is my first time spawning them and there's really not much info that I can find out there. What I do find says to document your personal experience for peoples' future reference.

No eggs to be found, I see a couple that were above the bubble surface and they've obviously gone bad. His white waste points to egg eating but I'm not going to jump the gun just yet. I notice some unfertilized eggs that were in one area are missing so perhaps he did some clean up and that's why his poo is white. He's overly friendly, notices me right away and comes over with zero aggression. I've noticed that when he comes up for air he chokes a bit, never blowing air out of his mouth but instead always through his gills and it looks rather painful with those big huge bubbles of his. After that he'll spit out a milky white substance, I can only assume that it's an egg. After checking him out for quite a while it seems that he is indeed holding the eggs. His lower jaw is hung a bit more than usual.
Perhaps he gathered them out of his nest after spawning....I'm a little confused and I'm thinking that he is too.

Weeeeeeeeiiiird!!! -_-

I remember when you were first getting them you had read something about giants mouthbrooding, perhaps he is trying to? Does it look like he's "tumbling" them? My falx looks like he's having trouble breathing when he is mixing everything around...

The fact that you are sharing this experience is proof that you are a generous person. This is such a gift. I'm waiting with baited breath...

ALASKA

Yeah, I see/saw him tumbling them, I've just left him alone but I uncovered his tank. I noticed him down there trying to get my attention when I was doing a water change on the other tank a few minutes ago.

Either way is fine with me, if he swallows them I'll just try again in two weeks, I was kind of dreading leaving week old fry in the care of my 5 year old this weekend while I'm gone   I already gave her the microworm rundown  I trust she'd do quite well since she assists me in feeding the orangies every day  But I would still worry!

awww,thanks Alaska!! :D

thats very unfortunate that they didnt hatch. maybe next time he will catch on and not try to be a mbuna.

No biggie, bettas rarely get it perfect on their first try anyway :) I'm still leaving him in the tank, just in case he is mouthbrooding them.
