thanks :D i think ill be doing videos from now on since imo they arent as fuzzy as my pictures till i get better at them

and actually im puerto rican, i speak spanish at home and with relativesbut i lernedboth at around the same time,id definately say my englich is much better than my spanish, but my spanish is well beyond basic, which could lead to a problem of getting very bored in the lower levels (spanish 1 and spanish II and spanish III) which is why im very inclined to go for the spanish IV and if that is too easy then maybe go to AP, but as of yet im still waiting on a response from the teacher lol

anyways, what kind of low light LPS would be good for my tank? im assuming nothing can be placed on the bottom except probably the dendro and the sun coral? but then id have to feed it which isnt really a problem.

Edit: upoun checking my email after this post i have been told to take spanish IV honors and not regular Spanish four, ive been told its a midwaypoint between the two classes and that i should do fine, i wonder what the summer homework would be though  thats my main concern at the moment

probably the dendro

Stay away from Dendros - imo they should be left in the sea

Just think of it as , no pain, no gain  you might regret not putting in that extra work now

ps I would love to know a bit about Puerto Rican culture

yeah i might regret it but im going from spanish II to spanish IV honors thats a big enough skip for me, and i only have one shot to do the AP test and if i pass i get college credits so that means less money, plus i can always bump up i i prolly wont as i have a very big plate this year.

ok then no dendros, anything else though? would a hammer coral be ok on the very top of the tank? mind a small frag in case things go south, theres a bright green one about 1" going for 25$ really thinking about getting it

culture.... hmmm.... idk alot of people over there are pretty nice and weve got rainforests like El Yunque and our own Parrot and frog (frog was also found in hawaii but the noise they make at night (also their name, Coqui) was too annoying and they killed them off, thats how the story goes idk if thats true) we have old forts like El Morro which was in a few movies and the last time it was used was when the US attacked not too long ago maybe 100 years i think. main attraction their is sport fishing for tarpon but the beaches are crystal clear and since its in the carribean theres carribean fish (next time i go my cousins want me to set them up a tank, using wild caught fish from the reef, imo too stressful chasing after a chromis  but i wonder whats down there tbh) umm my grandpa is descended from the original inhabitants (boriquen or something like that) and there are some old churches built by the spanish. its also intertwined with other Hispanic cultures ie. like quixotes and the masks, but i think we have our own dishes like tostones but idk if thats just puerto rican.

ok just for todays update, in the chaeto box i see bugs!!! im so happy now, they dont seem to be moving too much but i count 3, hopefully they munch on all the **** collecting in the chaeto and make lots and lots of babies

the GSPis doing great, everything is open and waving in the water, very pretty, the blenny hastaken an interest in it as well.

the mushrooms could be doing better but everything is open and hopefully will expand soon

also sawone of the baby brittle stars again, its see-through and not even a CM big, whats the chance it will live?

also, do i need to feed the vibex snails daily or just when i feed my fish?

imgoing to test the water, edit this post to add it, go play tennis, then on the way homestop at petco for nori, imo the algae gel is good, for the snails  theyll be fine on pellets but that stuff is wayy too messy. and would getting a second koralia 1 be a wise choice??

maybe over the weekend i might have to choose between starcraft or coral.... we'll see

If you ever need a bug boost beyond what's produced normally by debris, a little bit of mushy nori will make munnid isopods go crazy.

do i need to feed the vibex snails daily or just when i feed my fish?

IME most Nassariids are undemanding with regard to food (compared to something like a big grazing snail). If they're able to get some scraps when the fish are fed, that's probably plenty for them. If they start to come out roaming a lot and obviously aren't finding food, then it might be time to weight down a piece of something for them to munch on, but otherwise should be ok. The more well-fed they are, the more they turn into lazy blobs that can't be bothered to show their faces when food is about.

ok thanks for that bit of info, we are just going to finish of the goopy gel food and then use the nori

and nitrates are still at 20ppm so another water change tomorrow, and maybe something else lol depends what they've got

do you think the 'eggs' are actually Vibex eggs? they were eaten by one of the astreas but it would still be nice to know.

Just a thought on the frozen/gel foods, since it occurred to me that they might be contributing to elevated waste if a lot of gooey stuff is getting lost in the water. I haven't used frozen/gel veggie foods in years but recall them making a fairly massive mess for their size. Switching to nori might help knock the stats down a bit, since it takes longer to decay and would hopefully be eaten before that anyway.

Tough to say on the eggs since I can't really make out what's going on in the photo, but doesn't look like what I'm used to seeing for Nassariid eggs.

ok thanks, and notmuch of the gel gets lost as those snails eat it save a few small specks :p

waterchange today maybe 25-50%

corals doing good btw so we might get another

no WC today but there will be one tommorrow 50%

also noticed that we have a hitch hiked ummm i forget what they're called...... Feather duster! its on the mushroom rock and its small but the head is a lovely purple, making it evermore essential for a WC, might convinve dad to buy a small RO unit and some salt to make our own....

today i just got the water for the WC and ill be doing that assoon as i find the tube

also bought a book called 101 Invertabrates or something like that ill edit it when i get the book after the WC, feather duster lookin good and also noticed a strange creature, its got AFAIK 3 black and white stripped tentacles, its in a little crevice and pops in and out from time to time ill get a pic soon and my GSP recedes at 7-8pm like clockwork so ill be able to get the picture of the mysterious color changing bubble

WC has been done and im going to check up on the tank after the post, the book i got is called the 101 best marine inverts by Scott W. Michael, its ok as ive just skimmed and should help me get at least a basic understanding of inverts.

it says that halloweens are known to do what donya saw at the lfs fyi, they are pretty but im gonna go on the safe side and not get them for the sake of $,snails, and corals.

one of the model community tanks for a 20 gallon im fairly interested in copying: (exact stock- fish below)

4 Zoo colonies
1 umbrella leather
1 kenya tree
2 xenia colonies

2 australian lords/acans (idk can i?? might upgrade to a T5 if that matters)
2 banded trochus snails (idk)
pair of fire shrimp
1 blue legged hermit (no hermits)
2 scarlet hermits (no hermits)
2 yellow cucumbers (just.... no  )

so i guess my final stocking for my tank invert wise would be:

toadstool leather
kenya tree
xenia
zoanthids
GSP

Yellow polyps
fire shrimp
6 vibex snails
5 astreas
1 nerite

glove polyps??
lots of mushies
button polyps
sun coral
maybe acan??

and thatll be my limit for this tank, hopefully ill be able to frag some over to the bigger one as well

comments?? suggestions?

Looks a good selection, I would still get the halloweens and think it is probably Clove polyp, not glove

ok thanks :D

i got caught up big time yesterday as well as today so pictures will have to come either late tonight or tomorrw imgonna see if i can borrow the 'good' camera to get photos of the tiny stuff :D

also :yahoo: ntrates are done to 5-10 ppm!! imguessing weekly 50% is the way to go  and hopefully the Ro unit will avoid the trips to the LFS every week.

well despite all the cool stuff ive found like 3 free feather dusters, starfish and a free turbo snail, i found.... an anemone, and its the kind that everyone hates.... i dont know if its just one but im thinking to swap the fire shrimp for the one that eats aiptasia, i know im prolly going to end up feeding them so what do they take? my dad says we couldget apair next time we buy water for the next water change so thatll be next week.

i also fell asleep early and noone turned off the tank lights so they were on all night long... i know we have a bajillion timers here but the question is which ones work, im giving the lights a cooldown before having them go back as usual coral liked it though :D.
