Hi,

I got these in August last year. They enjoy live food, daphnia, small blood worm, glass worm, baby ramshorn snails and brine shrimp. They also eat frozen blood worm and brine shrimp. It would be preferable to me if you had some experience of tropical fresh water fish keeping. I would be able to sell their tank and set up, if required, for £50.

Thanks

Fiona

Edit - Reason for sale - I just don't have time to keep the amount of fish I have any more!

Fluval 2

Hi Curalingua
I may be able to take these but before I commit would you have a photo, reason being I have a dwarf at the moment, had it for 3 years now but some say its a figure 8 puffer, I would hate to put the two together then see them fight.
Look forward to your reply

Hi Dave

I will put a photo on tomorrow.

I don't think you can confuse a figure of 8 and a dwarf. A figure of 8 should grow to about 6cm in adulthood whereas a dwarf will be about 2cm.

I think mine are both females so if you have a male that should be okay, although if yours has lived alone for 3 years he might not take too kindly to new tank mates. Their max expected lifespan is only 5 years and more commonly 2-3 so yours is doing well.

Let me know what you think. It might be better to keep them separate and take my tank if you can take care of them too.

Thanks

Fiona

Hi Fiona
sorry for not getting back but work takes me away, I would be more than happy to take your dwarfs and keep them with my lone dwarf, mine is about two inches long so by your descrition he is definately a dwarf, if all is ok with you we just need to arrange collection.
Thanks Dave

Hi Dave

Sorry I was away for the weekend.

I am a little unsure about what yours is if it is 2 inches long, that sounds a bit too long for a dwarf.

Would you be interested in taking mine and their tank or are you just wanting mates for your puffer?

Hi Fiona
I am in a bit of a quandry, My fish is definately a Dwarf and he is 3cm long, I have had him about 3 years and when I bought him I got 2 so he had a mate. About a month ago one died leaving this guy on his own, now while he seems to be happy enough on his own its me that was thinking of getting another companion, the lfs has them for sale at the moment and fish are of a comparable size, I then saw your add and the rest you know. I have been on the puffer forum and read a post there where a new fish was introduced to the tank and the original fish who had been on its own totally changed character, turned timid and eventually died. As much as I would like to I dont have the room for another tank as I am running six at the moment (no7 would have er indoors sending solicitors letters) and I dont want to upset either your fish or my loner. Do you know any better? would they be ok together? I am more knowledgeable with normal tropicals and just have the one tank set up as brackish for the puffer. All I can say is I am more than happy to rehome these just need a nod from somebody that knows more than me.
regards Dave

I keep dwarf puffers, I have 3 in a 60l heavily planted tank 2 boys and a girl they have been living together happily for about a year now with the males having the occasional spat, all 3 have maxed out at an inch so I'd say perhaps yours isn't a dwarf tropicaldave? can we see a pic? if he isn't I wouldn't put dwarfs with him, if he is, providing the other two are females and the tank is at least 60l and heavily planted you should be ok diffusing any initial agression :)

I'm really interested in these as I'm finding it very difficult to source anymore. I am located in Plymouth, would you consider sending these to me, I don't mind having to pay a bit for this service.
