I have a two gallon hexagon tank. The metal and electric on the hood has corroded so that I can't turn the light switch. Is there a good way to clean that off and make it useable again? I don't think there is, thus I ask: Do you guys know where I could get a replacement hood or replacement parts for it? It's sad not being able to see very well! Thanks.

I think you could buy a whole tank for almost the price of the parts you would need to fix the hood on your tank. Wallyworld sells 2.5 gallon bowfront tanks for under $25. I saw similar for sale cheaper right before Christmas.

If you're determined to fix your's, a hardware store has switches and fixtures you could adapt with a little cleverness on your part.

Good Luck,
Eric

I got lucky. Walmart had an extra working hood for a 2 gallon hex laying around. It doesn't quite fit, but it's as good as it gets. Yay.
