I have a spotted cory cat. I had 2, but one died on Christmas She seemed to have died of a mouth fungus of some sort, because she had white stuff around her mouth. But we never even knew she was sick until the day before she died, and it was too late to do anything!
Anyways, I have been feeling bad for the one little cory we still have, because he seems so lonely. The two fish always swam around together, and now my one cory sits in a corner inactive most of the time. I'd like to get a second cory again, to keep the first company (I know they like schools, but I have only a 10 gallon, and with my other fish, there really isn't enough room for more than 2). My question is...does it have to be the same kind of cory for them to get along? I went to my fish store, and they had several kinds of corys, but for some reason, no spotted corys. I didn't buy any fish, because I wasn't sure. I will go back on sunday or monday to look for the spotted ones again, but if they aren't there would a different kind of cory become "friends" with my spotted? Or should I just wait until they get some spotted ones?
Second question...the aforementioned spotted cory has been exhibiting strange behavior lately. Most of the time he just sits, or swims around like usual...but occasionally he will suddenly swim really fast ond turn sideways (so his belly is showing) for just a second, then go back to normal swimming again. Is this a symptom of some sort of illness? I really have no idea. I would hate to lose another though Any advice is appreciated!
