17" Cube

Hey all you nano tank owners, what equipment would I need to set up a basic FOWLR tank, how much rock is recommended, etc etc.?

Hi there

A 17" Cube equal about 18UK G

I would suggest starting off with around 5 - 6 kg of LR and then adding upto around 10 kg depending on the space you have

Will this be your 1st Marien Tank as Nano's are generally concidered more work than larger tanks

Where abouts in Aberdeen do you shop, Holburn Trops have started a new Marine section & the staff there are very helpfull & they do know what they are talking about

Generally I am disapointed by the other shops in Aberdeen due to either lack of decent or badly stock

UDA in is an excellant LFS, just a bit of a distance

Del, Thanks for the quick reply, it would be my first marine tank, but I have kept other fish, most recently mbuna, and I do have an excellent neighbour who has a large marine set up that will be a great help.
Holburn tropicals is the best shop here by a mile, and the newish owners found out that marines make up a big part of the shops business, thats why they are stocking them again. UDA isn't that far, only an hour from me (I live south of the city in Portlethen) and I have been down there a few times, so they are definitely going to be worth a visit.
I thought I'd ask here before going to any shops as the answers I get won't make me feel quite so stupid!!

No Probs at all, any questions give me a shout

Used to go in by Holburn when Stevie owned it & was sorry to see him sell it, but the new owners are spot on IMO

I Still have a 10g tank that I have been threatening to make a Nano reef out of with NSW but havent gotten to it yet
(it has moved from the loft to the hall so I am getting there)

I used to live in Cove too, in Earnsheugh Circle!!
Adina and Greg seem to be fine to me too, a bit expensive for malawis which is my main obsession at the moment, but otherwise its good to see different fish than the usual tetras etc!!

I have noticed they have a nice selection of Malawis

But always end up at the Coral Tank lol

Didnt know Sid, Queit liked Steve & more importantly he knew his stuff,

In the 50's mate - Smack bang in the middle - the house with the brightest light spill (Halides lol)

well from what I remember he bought a boat & is nipping around the East & West Coast doing a bit of Fishing - Its a hard life
Steve has set up an aquarium rental and maintenance business, and still pops in to the shop from time to time, I have seen him there 2 or 3 times since he sold it. He was one of the best guys I have ever met in fishkeeping and would tell it like it was, something sadly lacking from the other local shops!!

What size tank have you got, is it only marine that you have?

Alan
