Nah ive found a breeder in Norwich that needs them gone quite so is selling them cheap. Ive still never been HB i need to get up there soon.

I would have but i want to stick to the Tapajos biotope now. There is quite a few people on here around this area so they shouldnt be to hard to find homes. Cheers for the offer though

No worries, just thought I'd ask...another few weeks need to go by before I sell any, I want to be sure on the sex first ;)

Why are you selling them? wouldnt it be easier just to wait for 2 to pair naturally then sell the other 2? How the port acara doing? He really is stunning.

Im going to go for a trio os the Limas and ditch the Hypselecara because im not sure if they are actually in Tapajos. Ive been searching and the only place that says they are is Seriously fish so im wondering if its just been a bit of a mix up. Anyway i would prefer the Limas over them. So the stocking will be
4 Uaru amphiacanthoides (Again only keeping a pair)
6-8 Geophagus red head
3 BN+fry
3 Banjo catfish
1 Platydoras armatulus
3 Sorubim lima

To be honest I have kind of wondered about those chocs - their common name is actually the rio negro chocolate isnt it? But I could believe they were spread to other rivers really.

With the Uaru I would keep 4 they are fish that should be kept in groups more so than geophagus from what I have read. Maybe do 4 Uaru and 4-6 Geos?

Other than that it sounds pretty sweet!

Yeah it is. I thought they might have at first but looking through fishbase i cant find anything about them anywhere near tapajos so i think ill leave them out.

Really, I always thought once they paired they did best with pairs. Do you think there will be enough from for 4 30cm+ fish?

I cant wait to get the Limas there one of the fish ive always wanted. Its just the look of them they look like a real catfish if you get what i mean. Hopefully with 3 i should see them quite often aswell.

Ive been searching through fishbase and i think ive finally found the perfect fish to finish the tank off. Acarichthys heckelii.
So
1 Acarichthys heckelii
4 Uaru amphiacanthoides
4 Geophagus red head
3 BN+fry
3 Banjo catfish
1 Platydoras armatulus
3 Sorubim lima

And i might get a plec aswell but not sure on type yet ill have to see what i can find but for now im happy with that.
Theres actually alot more fish from there than i thought.

Looks good but just be careful with the Threadfin, there are a lot of stories on the net about people having real problems with them - but that said I dont know how accurate they are? However you can be a guinea pig for us :D

Haha. Yeah ive heard the males can be quite aggressive but then some seem to do fine so just luck i guess. I might go for a female just to be on the safe side.

Ive been doing some thinking and im going to drop the Acarichthys heckelii. I do like them but the aggression and they look fairly similar to the Geos is whats putting me off. Im going to try a get a Pike cichlid. Something like Crenicichla lepidota seems a good option.

Isn't that more of an issue with aggression?...just a thought not a statement as I don't know the fish but aren't pike cichlids ambush predators?...

Yeah sort of but in a different way. From what ive heard Pikes arent to aggressive they just eat anything that will fit in there mouths but as long as it doesnt there ok where and the Acara are apparently just spiteful and will nip and anything and just shred fins and nip at gills and eyes.

i have a crenicichla strigata pike cichlid. it gets to about 14 inches max and has no problems eating anything that will fit in its mouth from what ive read.... it will easily eat a small pleco spines or not and anything twice the length of the pike and will happily swim around with the prey in its mouth and slowly digest it
im slightly worried about my BGK thats about 6 inches now as the pike is about 5 or so inches and it has a huge mouth already  its still in quarentine at the minute and will go in next week sometime. im not sire how big your suggested pike gets but just be warned im sure it will soon try to eat a few smaller fish

cracking fish though

Cheers. The one i said gets to 7-8" but im trying to find something that gets to around 6" but it does need to be big enough not to get eaten by the limas. Im considering leaving the BNs out and changing them for a differnt slightly bigger plec.

Im haveing second thoughts about the biotopte. I do really like the fish but im just not sure its what i want. While i have the room i think i will go for a few bigger fish. Ive always wanted a Jaguar cichlid every since i saw Nellys so while i have a tank big enought i think im going to have to go for 1 or 2. I was thinking something like
2 Jaguar cichlids
2 White spot pike cichlid
3 Lima shovelnose
and maybe a JD or something likethat.
Anyone got any other ideas?
