Wet pets make the best Pets
A week ago today decided that I needed a present for finishing up my winter quarter and having only a year more to go so either I was gonna get a pair of cons to put into my 30G and breed to feed my jd, or I was gonna do a nano marine. Obviously since I'm making this topic, we know which one I chose...
Well its nothing special or glamorous that will make everyone go ooo and ahhh like ikons 200G cube that we've all seen, but here are some pics and just a status update:
How it looked when the rock first went in with the water and sand, beautiful huh?:
After a day or two starting to clear:
Another day and can start to see diatoms growing on the sand and the rock:
Water cleared, tank rearranged, background added and glass cleaned:
Yay! first sign of life other than algae, it is a small stomatella snail, even thought there is no way you can tell from this pic:
Waiting for ammonia and nitrite to drop to 0 and then will add clean-up crew: 5 or so assorted snails, 2 scarlet hermits, 1 emerald crab, 2 or 3 peppermint shrimp
Not sure on fish yet if any, maybe a clown or a goby, but I'm not planning on too many fish.
As the title says, will just have zoos for corals to begin with and maybe one day when my marine abilities are more confident, might consider adding other corals with a tank upgrade.
As far as the equipment goes, using a basic 25W heater, maxi-900 powerhead, basic lamp right now until my new light arrives , and will use a hob filter for phosphate remover. Other than that, not gonna use a skimmer or uv or sump/refugium.
Updates with any new changes or new additions
EDIT: IDed the snail
