10-gallon tank ideas

There are two commonly available honey gouramis - natural colour (golden tan male, beige female) and yellow (males and females are yellow)
There is a gourami sold as honey which is red, but this is often a mis-labelled thick lipped gourami, Trichogaster labiosa. And there's a red dwarf gourami - this one has a turquoise-blue fin on its back which can be used to tell the difference between the dwarf and honey/thick lipped gouramis which don't have a bluish fin.

So "sunset" could be any of these. I would avoid any red honey gourami in case it really is a thick lipped as it's a bigger species which needs a tank at least 30 inches long.

Though to be honest, I wouldn't keep honey gouramis in 10 gallons either. In my opinion they need a bigger tank.

Oh. What about a pair or just one? I think that they weren’t gonna get three anyway. Thanks for response:). Appreciate it. :)
no. they are a fish that likes to be with lots of its own kind(at least 6). Because they are so small they feel very uncomfortable without having backup per se. So you should not keep them in groups of less than 6.

Ok thanks. I don’t think I really want gouramis then unless I get lucky and find the powder blue in my fish store. I think I will continue my search for fish and go to the pet store tomorrow, see what I see, take pictures, and come back to research on the fish seen.
Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving :)🦃🦃🦃

Hi! So I recently joined this site and started my first thread. The thread left of with me saying I was gonna do some corys in a 10G….. But then I kinda fell for other species!!!
I don’t have my tank cycled yet, as I have decided to get the tank on Friday, cycle it through for a while with plants for a few months,( could shrimp go in whilst this is happening?) and stock it @ Christmas.
So I have some species questions!

Cherry Barbs—- could these fish go in my tank? With just their little school? I kinda love these.

Tetras—- Looking for good species of tetra.
I heard that neons are good, and white skirts are :good:. But will they be happy?

Gourami---- I heard only dwarfs are Ok... And I keep coming back to them! Every time I look at fish I rule them out.. but I just cant stop looking at them!!

Pea puffers— this ones are not for me. I have a friend who is getting a 10 G.. and is confused. Four different sites that say four different things... They wanna know which is advisable and correct.
-No. They need 20G
-Yes! 3 could be happy!
-Yes, one.
-Yes, two.

Thanks to all!!!!! :) :) :) :)
Happy Thanksgiving in advance. :) :) :)

EDIT::: We both have soft water :)
I used a pre-owned 5gallon tank which was not suitable for me. Because my tetras and African butterfly are not staying in the tank, it is jumping away. I think my aquarium is not in a perfect situation, that's why I changed all the water, add many hiding spaces, checked water ph, Oxygen level, and temperature also. After all, that problem is not solved. Then I decide to upgrade my tank with a lower level of water. Then I owned a pre-owned 10gallon Penn Plax Curved Corner Glass Aquarium, I think it's very nice to work. So my opinion is 10 gallons tank.
