Well have been told that the polsytrene works really well, im going to try the polystrene out all around the tank and see what this does and see if it helps... ill try it and see how it goes

What in the tank? I have just purchased 2x 500w heaters which will be going in there plus 1x 200w so will have 3 heaters in their in total

all the polystyrene is now glued together, I now need to cement the lot and stick it in place!

its a 'Resun AF2-009D' got it cheap as well :) but I literally just put it on top of the lid really so a few inches above the water and it seems ok

ahh see I haven't had the problem, I always had it above the tank also I use pellets as its for my Cichlid fish so slightly different but every time I use it it has worked fine. I leant it to a friend for a week for his community tank full of flakes and it worked fine for him.
