I would get a new pair for a couple of £$€ and wash then out in clean water. Washing powder and conditioner nowadays seems to be really potent to achieve that lovely clean linen fresh smell.

Hi I have got the same filter as you. The little sponge just pops off easily and give it a rinse in aquarium water when you do a partial water change. With the cartridges here is a tip! Learnt the hard way - switch off the filter before you take any out as the waste in the filter gets sent...

Celestial Pearl Danio are my favorite tiny fish they are lovely looking and great little characters! I think you need six at least otherwise I read they can be very shy. Not sure any more than that in a 27L. I have a shoal of 9 and they swim happily out front with all the bigger fish.

I got all my plants off eBay various sellers, mosses mainly and have been really happy with them. My Xmas moss is taking a bit longer to establish but the riccia and java is really healthy.
