Well guys, back after a fantastic time in Mexico and everything looks not too bad. Photoperiod was put to 4 hours, no ferts and no Easycarbo. I do have BBA round the leaf edges of my coffeefolia, which is really irritating. Will I have to remove these leaves.

I had similar irritations when siphoning the poo so modified an eheim gravel vac to do the job. Can use it every day now with no water loss and it gets rid of everything. Check out the mod Here

I had the same issue I think. When my stag horn started to whiten and die off, bits of dead algae were suspended in the water column making the water look cloudy, but it was definitely the dead algae in suspension

IMO I would try reducing the photoperiod an hour at a time and see how the algae responds over the course of 3-4 weeks when you do it. I also got rid of massively high phosphates when I had an issue (5ppm). I believe 2wpg on reflected T5's is equivalent to about 3 wpg of unreflected T8's, so...

IMO I think that if they are clean, old and dry they will be ok, but I suspect if you have acidic water they may corrode over time due to the mineral content. I don't think it's a mad idea, I was very close to getting some antlers to put in mine, after tying moss to them I think they would have...

On the assumption that you will be giving the tank a really good rinse when you have finished the clean, I would recommend Viakal from your local supermarket. It is a weak hydrochloric acid and will remove most limescale deposits.
