    Mystery Deaths

Will get an independent water check but def seems fine. Water changes are 20% once a week as with other tanks. Regarding acclimatising, it's def not, always take plenty time and one of the deaths was a small group of Brycinus longipinnis which I had grown from tiddlers so used to the local water.

    Mystery Deaths

Hi, not an emergency but not sure where to post. I have a tank which has been set up for a couple of years now, water parameters are all fine, reg water changes etc etc. At present the tank contains a shoal of African red eyed tetra which are doing great, two pairs of thomasi cichlids and an odd...

    Cichlid Mix

Sorry Willis and thanks for the reply. Didn't mean it like that, was just wondering if anybody had kept pindare with discus def not aimed at your comment  Like you, no idea why you don't see them more of them about, great fish.

    Cichlid Mix

Cheers, I have young G sp pindare which I believe seem to be smaller, more peaceful than most and temp wise should do ok but maybe somebody out there has actual info?

Just wondering if anybody has kept discus with geophagus? Would it work? Would add young fish to let them grow up together but .... thoughts?

Help With My Freshwater Moray Eel(feeding

Glad to hear he's eating, wont be long before he's out looking for it when you appear, seem to be greedy fellows once started. On the subject of feeders, given you have him with other fish and he's happily eating 'dead' food, I'd probably stay clear of them, don't see the point in encouraging...

Help With My Freshwater Moray Eel(feeding

Sort of disappointed in this thread as was interested and that fact I am still replying to it now. One of the reasons I liked this forum was that the answers are, on the whole useful, and not simply "you can't keep three neons in less than a swimming pool you fool" type thing. Ok so it's not...

Help With My Freshwater Moray Eel(feeding

Totally agree with what Neale is saying about salinity. I have one which was being kept in fresh water and eating very little. When I got it home it went in with the monos and T Chatareus which I keep at about 1.010 ish and he immediately looked happier. One word of warning, the first evening...

    Woodlice

Cheers Neale, that is what you call a quick response :good: Reckoned they would be fine but just wanted to check as they seem a big hit but have never seen them mentioned in connection with feeding puffers. On an aside, puffers are def smart but scats seem to have them matched. The silver...

    Woodlice

Just wondering if I am missing something. Woodlice would seem the ideal food for puffers, crunchy, easy to get and last under water long enough to give the puffer something to chase but yet have never seen them recommended, is there a reason? Better not add mine seem to love them

    30 Gallon Tiger Bard

One of the best looking tank of tigers I have ever seen was heavily planted with various crypts and contained a large shoal of tigers and a red tailed shark. Complimented each other well and there was too many of them for him to pick on but his presence kept them as a great shoal, looked really...

I am jealous, where about have you seen then? Decent price? :)

Scat Pair Biting Off Each Other's Scales

Think they have answered your question about what to keep and what to shift in your tank. Look like they are needing some salt to me.

    Corydoras Duplicareus

Been looking into a second species of corys and came upon these guys. The info seems to say they are only a little more delicate than the average one so any clue as to why you don't see them about or have I just missed them? Anybody keeping them got any tips?

    Decisions, Decisions ...

Thanks for thoughts, that's all was looking for as really cant decide. In all the years, I have only ever kept the odd two or three corys and never been a huge fan. This is first time I have kept a bigger group and totally sold on them, as others have said it really does transform their...

    My Brackish Tank

Great looking tank, go low end brackish and swop the freshwater ones for something more tolerant, plenty of options. Be a shame to lose the 'mood' of that set up :good: Great to see some happy looking archers for a change. :)

    Decisions, Decisions ...

Ok, can't decide, going to be moving my group of C. Sterbai to their final home. At present I have a group of 8, should I get some more or would it look better with 6 of another type, honestly can't decide. Help :/

    Wasp Fish

Hi, if it is Neovespicula depressifrons then they are fairly easy to keep. I have mine in a low end brackish tank. They eat anything meaty and have done from the word go, no need for livefood, although they love it. Only thing is dont keep them with anything fast, they like to 'think about it'...

    Changing Up The Archer Tank....

That would be interesting to see, never seen the dominant fish go that colour, wonder what that is connected to. I have something else with all of mine and it def seems to make a big difference to their general behaviour. Wait till the congos suss whats going on with the crickets and...

    Geophagus 'neiva'

Had not seen G Winemilleri before, done a bit of googling and well impressed. Stunning fish and look well chilled from the video clips about them. Get breeding yours and I will be down for some youngsters :good:

    Changing Up The Archer Tank....

I think you are talking yourself into another tank  From my experience I wouldn't try to get the microlepis much above 1.002, mine certainly seem to huff much above this and go dark and go off their food. I'd say it's one of the obvious differences between them and the chatareus who...

    Geophagus 'neiva'

Cheers for that, makes me wonder if should wait and see if can find some G surinimensis or tapajos for a more peaceful set up

    Geophagus 'neiva'

Very tempted by them and as they would be going in a 60x24x24 was looking at a male with 2/3 females. I am just concerned about aggression to other species as a lot of the reports about the Stiendachnary group suggests they are more aggressive than some of the other geophagus. Any thoughts...

    Geophagus 'neiva'

Local shop has some youngsters of these and have done my homework but there seems to be a fair bit of conflicting info on them, both with regard to actual species and to there behaviour with other species. Anybody out there keeping them and able to say what they are keeping them with and how...

    Medium Sized African Tetras?

Congos work well and have always wanted to keep a group of yellow tail congos one but have to say I'd go for the African Red Eyes (Arnoldichthys spilopterus) if you can get them. Great fish, easily sexed and really laid back, great shoaling fish. Had them for years and one of my all time fav...

    Mono And Scat Tank Behavior

Go for it I'd say, of the tanks I have the one that gets most attention apart from the marine one is the monos and scats. Maybe CFC has particularly laidback ones but certainly wouldn't say mine ever 'hang about' If you go for it I would suggest going for silver scats and try to keep an eye...

    Angelfish Sore Eye

Any thoughts?? As I feared it has spread on to the eye, still seems unconcerned but would like to sort if possible. Help!

    Angelfish Sore Eye

After being away for a couple of days I came back to find one of my angelfish with a small 'blister' under its eye. This has now moved on to the eye itself. The fish seems unbothered by it and otherwise looks perfectly happy. Any thoughts on what it is or what I should do - if anything! I am a...

    Archer Issues....

Glad to hear they are settling in well after your long wait for them, they looked nice fish. Interesting thoughts on the colour changes. Most information about this seems to be linked to social hierarchy but I think that tends to be more about a darkening of the whole of the body, especially...

    Ordered My Archers!

Now that must be really annoying after your long wait, they don't really fit with your plans, do they! Toxotes jaculatrix are a close second to my favorite species of archer and are actually the one we seem to see least of at the moment around here despite being the 'common' archer. Send them...

    Siamese Algae Eater! Crossocheilus Siamensis

I'd hang on to him, they are much better bet than the others you're talking about, not nearly as aggressive when older. Sure he will be fine on his own but agree they are fun to watch interact together. Will always give you an excuse to get a bigger tank in future if need be. To be honest...

    Tiger Barb Swarm!?

Praecox rainbows would look good but not sure I would trust the archers with them once they got bigger, my T microlepis have easily made 6" quickly and are bold feeders happy to pack away sizable items. One of the other rainbows would work or how about one of the milder barbs such as Lined...

    Toxotes Blythii

Don't think about the cost, rather not think about that either  At least they appear hardy once settled, even one which I got which very under weight has settled and filled out nicely with a little tlc :) Largest ones are now about 5+ and are thickening out a lot, have put on about an...

    Toxotes Blythii

Hi just wondering if anybody on here bought any of them and if so how they are doing? Be interested in sharing any info on them as things seem to have gone very quiet on them! In particular what size they have got to, as this seemed to have some question over it. Have to say that once they...

    Baby Bristlenoses

Just wondering if anybody has any tips on how to catch young BN from a planted tank. The pair I have regularly manage to get four or five to survive out of each batch they produce. No mean feat given they share the tank with angelfish, lined and red-lined barbs, silversharks and clown loaches...
