    T8 To Led On 5Ft

With 60degree lenses I'm hoping I get enough of a spread with them running through the centre, if not I'll have to go plan B and screw them to aluminium flat box section and fix that to the hood instead, then run a condensation tray to stop them getting soaked

    T8 To Led On 5Ft

I like the simplicity of that for great results, 2 drivers isnt a problem.   I was going to remove the ballast from the centre of the hood, cut a hole in the bottom and fit the LED's and then put a piece of clear acrylic over them?

    T8 To Led On 5Ft

Can I use yellow LED's? At the minute I have one white tube and one yellow and together they give a blackwater effect without actually having any tannins... Is this something I could replicate with LED's?   Also going to run about 4 blue ones for moonlighting to hopefully see more of my pleco...

    T8 To Led On 5Ft

Very helpful info, the Tank is a 5x2x2 and being Amazonian themed wont have many, if any plants at all so silly high lighting isnt needed, more subdued than anything but just want LED for the energy savings more than anything so would I be better using 10 LED's at normal hood height?   They wont...

    T8 To Led On 5Ft

Hi guys, looking to change my 5ft Central/South American tank over to LED lights from the T8 is came with to hopefully save a bit on electricity while having better quality lighting.   If this goes well I'll be looking at converting my planted Rio125 too.     Basically I havent got a clue what I...

New Aps 2000Ef Filter Noisy As Hell

All sorted now the skimmer was sucking in a tonne of air, took it off and blocked it up and within 10mins the filter bled itself and is quiet as a mouse now Thanks for the help!

New Aps 2000Ef Filter Noisy As Hell

Hey guys installed my new aps 2000 filter on my 5x2x2 and the noise is terrible, a really loud "sloshing" sound is coming from the filter itself. Sounds like I have a waterfall in my living room, any ideas? Cheers

    Thinking Of Collecting Some Wood

Got some great pieces on there but I'm based in the UK and spending 100's on, effectively sticks, doesn't appeal to me much lol Cheers

    Thinking Of Collecting Some Wood

Hey guys, recently treated myself to a 5x2x2 and wanna focus on large central american cichlids with a sort of river biotope thing going on. Now in my eyes thats lots of "branchy" wood and river rocks wth a sand/pea gravel mix substrate.     Thing is on a tank this size wood can become VERY...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Today consisted of fishing out more floating pogostemon bits, atleast another golf ball sized clump. Only so long before I rip the lot out and get something else :D   Alternanthera Reineckii mini looks like a worthy replacement, just wondering if I could keep it that nice deep red colour...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Yeah he's brilliant, need some nice tall plants for him to swim through and as a bit of a hide for him, seems quite shy at the moment and sticking to the back wall of the tank, readily taking bloodworms though so Aslong as he's eating for now I don't mind I was thinking of doing that but the...

    Staurogyne Repens

Well it is, it came from a Tropica pot just this morning. It was quite leggy where it was left to grow. I know for a fact that it is or I wouldnt of said it was, its just where its been trimmed up for planting and topped off.   If you have no interest... simply dont comment. Heres what it looks...

    Staurogyne Repens

Trimmed up some Staurogyne stems today and this is what I have left over after planting my 2 tanks, rather it went to someone than get wasted! Theres a good sized portion, around a handful. Beginnings Of A Jungle

Seems my plecos dont like pogostemon :( Came home from work yesterday to a tank full of floating Helferi, so I took out everything that was loose and set about finding a replacement today.   Heres what I went for:   Bit out of focus but its Staurogyne Repens, picked up a few pots from my local...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Thanks very much, it's not so stunning now because my bn plecos have uprooted all my pogotstemon lol. Also got a bit of a melt here and there but it's picking up again now. Very easily achieved though everything in there is undemanding and just a very basic dosing regime Cheers

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

I was considering replacing the 2 bn plecos with 6-8 Ottos. No worries on being an established tank, this one's been running for 3 years altogether Cheers

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Maybe I was too hasty in calling it a failure, had a bloody good clean of all my tank/plants/equipment today and low and behold... I have tiny tiny fissidens growth!   Through the dead brown bits you can see faint but bright green growth :D     Also my pogostemon helferi has taken off like a...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Some good growth on a few things such as my tiger lotus growing a bit, crypts filling out nicely although a little yellow in places and red root floaters spreading. But most impressively my pogostemon getting bushier by the day Not so good news on the fissidens though, that just seems to be...

    Yellowing Leaves And Melting

Very good advice thanks. Could I go with an all in one EI mix like the green high ferts from eBay? Noticed some people on the forum using it and I used the green low about a year ago with what I thought were good results? I'll start dosing around 2ml of profito daily then rather than the full...

    Yellowing Leaves And Melting

Things like my pogostemon helferi is nice and green, ozelots and nice and dark green with good spots on, wendtii browns are nice and brown, tiger lotus is good, red root floaters good, anubias is fine just a bit BBA'd on the oder leaves     BUT my wendtii greens and aponogeton crispus are a bit...

    Yellowing Leaves And Melting

Not sure on iron level, how would I do a test for that?   Im dosing 12ml of profito a week which is apparently high in iron though, all the melted rotten growth gets cut away as soon as possible

    Yellowing Leaves And Melting

I could up the lighting a bit, just that I'm suffering with a small BBA problem so kept it quite low in the hope it dies off when dosing easycarbo?   Tank is a Juwel rio 125, just over 3ft

    Yellowing Leaves And Melting

Hi guys got a small problem with some of my plants,   Some of my crypt leaves are going yellow but the veins are staying dark green... then after a few weeks the leaves melt off.   My aponogeton crispus melted away then sprouted new leaves which seem yellow and really brittle, almost transparent...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Having a bit of trouble with yellowing on some leaves and a bit of melt here and there but I think once I've dosed the profito a few more times the extra iron should help perk them up a bit.... I hope lol

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Got a few quick pictures:   FTS, few things have taken and grown in nicely, my Aponogeton melted though so needed a cut back:       Red root floaters:     Fissidens, as you can see I've glued it to some clear plastic and then tied/used some small black rubber bands to hold it to the wood...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Bought some Red Root Floater plants from eBay, ordered 5 plants and ended up recieving a whole bag! Theyre in floating about now but most of it just ends up in behind my spraybar rather than in "open water"... May need to have a jiggle about with it and try and get it in a position where...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Ill try grabbing some later, my Aponogeton was looking mullered today so had to chop off all the nice long flowing leaves :(   Not sure wether its a melt or my BN's attacking it, all my other stuff is fine and the new leaves look nice and strong, hmmm... will need to keep an eye on things I...

    Red Root Floaters

Ah didn't realise you had some or I would of had a nose as what they're like. I'll give them a bash and order some in, I'm dosing easycarbo and ferts anyways so Aslong as they don't get blown about or burnt by my lights they should do ok! Cheers

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Finally got some fissidens through today so decided to get it in the tank. Thing is I didn't really fancy draining the tank at this time so I could attach it to my wood. So I had a think and came up with the idea of glueing the moss to a thin strip of clear plastic and then tying that to the...

    Red Root Floaters

Hey guys, looking on getting a bunch of red root floaters to try in my tank as I quite like the idea of the bright red roots dangling down below the waterline.   Trouble is I've never been able to grow floating plants, from frogbit to duckweed, they've all gone yellow and shrivled up.   Question...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Thanks guys! As said I did have around 15 cories and 5 ottos but lost a lot of stock, the new fish probably wont be so tolerant as my old ones (Apistos/rams) so rather than buy a load more I'll probably be looking to move them on.     Looking to try some floating plants again, never had any...

    Beginnings Of A Jungle

Numbers can be upped but they may be moved on anyway as the ellioti get bigger to save bullying. Good idea with the crispus but I have a small tiger lotus in that exact position to try and grow up through the wood. Was thinking they both get quite large do didn't want them to mix and muddle up...
