Hey guys, looking on getting a bunch of red root floaters to try in my tank as I quite like the idea of the bright red roots dangling down below the waterline.

Trouble is I've never been able to grow floating plants, from frogbit to duckweed, they've all gone yellow and shrivled up.

Question is why are they doing that? I never used to dose much but now have a pretty strict EasyCarbo and ferts (profito) regime so could I possibly have a breakthrough?

My tank is a Rio125, 2x 28W T5 tubes no reflectors, currently dosing 1.5ml EasyCarbo upping to 2ml as of next week and starting the Profito at 4ml weekly gradually going up to around 12 over a few weeks.

Could the ferts help or is my lighting too close to the water and burning the plants? Have quite a slow surface movement adn could even angle the spraybar down more if need be.

Cheers

I've got some, but not really enough at the moment to give out. You've actually seen the tank they were mainly in, but 200 fry blitzed most of the plants in there, including the floaters. Not really sure why. They do require ferts to stay red, but they do well enough.

Ah didn't realise you had some or I would of had a nose as what they're like.

I'll give them a bash and order some in, I'm dosing easycarbo and ferts anyways so Aslong as they don't get blown about or burnt by my lights they should do ok!

Cheers
