    Lots Of Questions.

So, I'm deciding to upgrade my 10g to a 20g long. I originally wanted a 29g high, but I don't want to spend too much, not to mention my stand is custom built for a 20g long, dunno if it could hold the 29. Not to mention, wouldn't the extra swimming room be better? Anyway, I just have a few...

    New Tank, Comments/advice? :)

I just got a 40 gallon high tank today. Bought an oscar and a plecostomus. The pleco isn't a mainstay due to his size but for some reason I always have bad algae, no matter what. Our water is just crap, I guess, cause I've went through tons of measures to maintain it and once I added a pleco to...

How Overstocked Is My 10G Nano Tank?

I have a yellow clown goby (1") an engineer goby (2") and a false perc (2.5") CUC consists of two nassarius snails, a turbo snail and a brittle star fish. I have a 20g HOB filter with live rock caked in coraline in the media compartment. I also have about 15lbs of live rock, getting more soon...

    Condylactis Anemone?

I'm just curious as to how much light this particular anemone demands. I seen a medium sized one at the LFS today for 7.99. He appeared to be doing well under their low-light tank and was told he has been there for quite some time. I understand they can be aggressive, I currently have a 10g nano...

New Fish, Horrible Rep... But He Is Gorgeous!

I believe I got a really good picture :) She's absolutely beautiful and a joy to watch dart around my 10g nano-reef in progress. I know they have a horrible reputation, hell, I have people come into the LFS to donate them to us because they're terrors! Regardless, this particular one caught my...

Looking For Quick Reply On This Light ?

Wondering if it's worth it. I have a 10g nano tank and the light came with it in a full hood. I believe it's a standard 18w T8 bulb. Would this be much of an improvement, in terms of brightness as well as zoa/mushroom/soft coral keeping ability...

    Bio Balls!?

If possible, you could do what I did, turn your trickle filter into a DIY HOB fuge. Simply cut the media basket, or get some small pieces of acrylic sized to your filter, and baffle the water near the intake pump. Place on about 3/4's of the way above the bottom of your filters media compartment...

    Clownfish Issues

I would recommend buying one of those 5-10 gallon "desktop" or "bookshelf" aquariums for you to use as a hospital tank. Definitely no need to rip apart a FW setup, unless it's just an empty tank with gravel and you don't want to clean it out. 30g would be more beneficial as a setup tank anyway...

    Gears Of War Tank..

If I could, the pink gravel totally throws the tank off for me, IMO. What would be pretty cool though is if you had the guy laying in the pink gravel, kinda like a pool of blood, maybe with one of the Locust near him. Now that would be sweet.

    Would This Work?

Yup, it's a regular filter except I cut and shaped the media basket pieces. Two near the initial pump which goes into a sponge, one underneath that sponge which has minimal sand, coraline, and hopefully soon chaeto algae. It's running on a 10g tank, so yeah.

    Would This Work?

So would it ultimately defeat the purpose of a fuge in general? Couldn't I use it for extra water motion and have the sponge collect bacteria, occasionally polish the water with carbon, as well as harvest some extra bacteria of individualized pieces of rock? I'm not so much looking to house...

    Would This Work?

Simply turning an aqueaon 30gal power filter into a fuge. Basically my idea is.. Filter pulls in water Water goes through initial baffle into sponge which is sitting on top of another baffle Live sand, small small pieces of crushed rubble caked in coraline + cheato algae Pumped back into...

    Rather Confused..

I've been trying to catch the remaining few, I took back the majority. Should've specified, sorry. I thought I had them all but I left the light off for two days or so and noticed them in there. I have a lot of rock in there so it doesn't surprise me. And yes, I did add more live rock, I...

    Rather Confused..

I've recently started a 10g nano tank and something is perplexing me to no end. I added a ton of live rock, rich with coraline. I figured on these grounds, as well as according to my co-worker (whom runs the saltwater side in our LFS) that one fish -should- be okay. However, I waited about 5...

Late update, if anybody cares to read :) The job is going phenomenal. It is a very gratifying job. I don't get many hours, nor does it pay as well as my previous job, but I do what I love.. the only thing unhappy is the bills! So I will be pursuing another job, but overall, it's great. Water...

My Ph Is Way Too High...

I've heard but some people can't afford RO units :P I'm considering buying RO water by the gallon when I get paid this week, but IDK. :( I know a lot of people who have had success with corals and delicate inverts with tap. #41#### you arizona D:

My Ph Is Way Too High...

Tank is cycling (10g nano), took all my inverts back to the LFS as I truly see the cruelty of having them in the tank with the levels like this! 11lbs of live rock 10lbs of marine sand 160gph powerhead 20g filter running carbon Okay, my levels are... Ammonia .25PPM Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 Ph...

    Fowlr Setup Question

I want to convert my 20g tropical tank into a FOWLR. I understand I should start with a bigger tank size, but I'm unfortunately restricted to this 20g long tank. I believe it's 12" x 30", so it is a long tank. I just have a few questions. I have NO knowledge on saltwater tanks, so bare with me...

The Classifieds Board Is Pretty Slow, Soo...

Anybody here have a strip light they would be willing to sell? Strip light prices are atrocious at the LFS, 39.99 USD + 15 MINIMUM for a standard florescent bulb! If anybody has one they would be willing to sell, PM me or post ITT. :) It would be for a 20 gallon tall, heavily planted.

    Question Regarding Ph And Growth.

I have relatively hard water and I was told either african, or south african, cichlids will thrive in it. I cannot remember which! Also, I have a 20 gallon tank finishing up the NC process, I was wondering if they're any cichlids I could keep in it? I understand a lot get big, territorial and...

Should I Get A 10G Tank, Or Work Around My 20G?

I had a betta in a halfmoon bowl that hung on my wall. I eventually felt kinda bad because he became lethargic and uninterested. I know bettas can "survive" in anything, but I just felt so bad for him I decided to put him in my 20g. Currently in my 20g is an Opaline Gourami, x2 Zebra Danio...

Thanks everybody :) I start today at 2:30. The man who hired me, the store manager, was an aquatic specialist for seven years before he was promoted to store manager. We talked a lot about things such as the nitrogen cycle and he is obviously educated and a believer, but again, it is...

Of course, james. I'm a little nervous. The presentation is in front of the store manager as well as district store manager. First Dead Fish

What are your tank dimensions? Danios need quite a bit of room and as with all fish can get aggressive if they're in a tight space
  38. donny7

    First Dead Fish

Danios are shoaling fish, and if my knowledge is correct, if a shoal should be kept in numbers of 6+ to distribute aggression. Otherwise they can get nippy. How many do you have? I have 8 danios myself and they're rather peaceful with the other fish. Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
