If possible, you could do what I did, turn your trickle filter into a DIY HOB fuge. Simply cut the media basket, or get some small pieces of acrylic sized to your filter, and baffle the water near the intake pump. Place on about 3/4's of the way above the bottom of your filters media compartment...

I would recommend buying one of those 5-10 gallon "desktop" or "bookshelf" aquariums for you to use as a hospital tank. Definitely no need to rip apart a FW setup, unless it's just an empty tank with gravel and you don't want to clean it out. 30g would be more beneficial as a setup tank anyway...

If I could, the pink gravel totally throws the tank off for me, IMO. What would be pretty cool though is if you had the guy laying in the pink gravel, kinda like a pool of blood, maybe with one of the Locust near him. Now that would be sweet.

Yup, it's a regular filter except I cut and shaped the media basket pieces. Two near the initial pump which goes into a sponge, one underneath that sponge which has minimal sand, coraline, and hopefully soon chaeto algae. It's running on a 10g tank, so yeah.

So would it ultimately defeat the purpose of a fuge in general? Couldn't I use it for extra water motion and have the sponge collect bacteria, occasionally polish the water with carbon, as well as harvest some extra bacteria of individualized pieces of rock? I'm not so much looking to house...

What are your tank dimensions? Danios need quite a bit of room and as with all fish can get aggressive if they're in a tight space

Danios are shoaling fish, and if my knowledge is correct, if a shoal should be kept in numbers of 6+ to distribute aggression. Otherwise they can get nippy. How many do you have? I have 8 danios myself and they're rather peaceful with the other fish. Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Anybody have a clue if that rock is safe? :)

It is, I want to get one but I can't be troubled removing it, putting it on, ETC. I'll just try and hide mine with plants :lol: :lol:
