Adding a little salt to nurse another fish when a pleco, or any fish without scales, is going to harm the fish without scales, correct?

I'm not what you call an expert on aquariums...but 26 fish in a 12 gallon tank is a little much no matter what the levels or nitrates and so on are? Can they even move? heh

It's not an eclipse tank. It's a normal tank with an Eclipse Hood. The filter is separte from the hood.

Do any of you mods run an aquarium store in Michigan? If so, where? Just curious because I noticed a lot of the mods and some others are from Michigan.

My tank is starting to get a fairly large amount of brown algae (on everything and starting to grow on glass). Are there any safe chemicals I could get that would stop the growing for a while, or kill it? Could I just wash the decor off and whipe the glass or will it just return in a day or two?

I'm pretty sure this is algae...In the back of the tank and on some of the decorations some darkish stuff is forming up. I do a 25 percent water change regularly, so I dont think it's my water quality. Could it be that I'm fooding to much food? Again its brownish, almost rust like color.
