    Led Lighting.

Hi.   Is there any led lighting good enough for planted? I'm sure there must be with all the leds for reefs but i don't know where to look?

    A New Journal 300G + Sump.

Hi all.   I have been speculating  a lot over the past month or so on what to do with my new tank, i was thinking of doing a reef and then decided to go back with rifts to then think about discus, but now I'm 100% fixed on doing a full planted set-up. I will build on this topic once i have...

    My New Tank!

Your tanks look cool rachel, i was just looking :) I am very happy with it, even though it's an empty glass box at the moment. Getting it into position was hard enough, very heavy tank due to double basing.

    New Planted Tank

Hi all.   I've recently acquired a small 60L aquarium that i want to plant and do a small biotope so to speak. Im starting small to get the basics but i need some help on a few things. What is the best CO2/ferts to use, what substrate is best to use and how do you go about setting up a co2 kit...

    In Need Of Advice...

synodontis catfish would work well for some bottom dwelling fish and your going to have to be careful what mbuna you add. You ideally need dwarf mbuna, a nice species only tank would be nice for a 190. I had a wild group of saulosi in a 190 not long ago and it looked great. The fish didn't get...

    Setting Up Cichlid Caves

Just a few Large rocks with smaller pieces scattered around them will be fine, you Don't have to fill it full of rock if you don't want to. Braking the line of sight is the main option. Here's a few pics for you to get an idea :)

    200L Mbuna Tank

lol 900L Yeah, i was going to get 6x2 to go next to the other 6x2 but i wanted the extra floor space. I know Im going to have to get in the thing haha, i cant wait to scape it (if drawn out a scape and if i can replicate it, it should look pretty d amn nice. I hope! Stocking will be the most...

    200L Mbuna Tank

I just mentioned the dimensions and they gave me a price lol?? Its going to be double based (due to the weight) its 48"x48" So its the base that's more of a custom then the actual width, as im guessing they will just use 4 x 4ft panel's? You can have any size you want mate but costs extra.
  18. Malawi MaD

    200L Mbuna Tank

    Yeah it is mate.
  19. Malawi MaD

    200L Mbuna Tank

lol Its the Best looking tank IMO, looks great. Really natural. Is there anywhere close by to you that you may be able to get rocks from?
  20. Malawi MaD

    200L Mbuna Tank

These rocks maybe easier to find mate and this is by far the best looking tank ive seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDV2TT55TNo I know! its kind of random though, why they are just like there! lol 3 weeks time i hope :)

    200L Mbuna Tank

I'm not 100% sure myself, they are 'apparently' no harder than externals etc... Much more efficient too i think. There is a local bridge that for some reason just has thousands of limestone rocks. You could maybe get yours from a quarry or something? May cost a lot though :( I just cant wait for...

    200L Mbuna Tank

Ah no worries mate, just wondered if you wanted the extra depth :) Large limestone mate, i think its really natural looking rock. You could sump it? or large Fx5's, ehiem? etc.. Soo many filters to choose from Justin? T5's can look just as nice, if you get the right combination. I know what you...

    200L Mbuna Tank

Congrats mate and congrats on the new tank/project. You may have it same sort of time i get mine. Would you not want a tank with a little more width? I have a 6Lx3Hx2W and that's great but im getting the 4x4x2 because of the 2ft width, just want the extra floor space. Then again my rocks are...

    Circulation Help For Mbuna Tank

£99 :o does look good but £99 seem's a lot for what they are. Entirely up to you mate but the extra power will fine with your fish :)

    Circulation Help For Mbuna Tank

You could up the power of your wave makers/power heads as mbuna do love the flow, in the lake some species stay near the shores where waves thrash against the rocks. As long as the flow doesn't blow your fish around (OTT) then they will be fine. They can soon dive into the rocks to get out of...

    Zebra Gold Kwanga

    That's good mate :)
  27. Malawi MaD

    Zebra Gold Kwanga

It shouldn't take to long for your males to start and show themselves. No worries.
  28. Malawi MaD

    Zebra Gold Kwanga

The problem could be with both the saulosi and kwanga. Saulosi are all mouth if you get what i mean. They can be aggressive but tend not to really back it up, they will show aggression but not stick at it so much where as certain mbuna species like the kwanga will keep going and going and going...
  29. Malawi MaD

    Zebra Gold Kwanga

Who has these Justin? Are they F1? If you get a good quality male of these, they are probably one of the nicest mbuna if you ask me. With them having the jet black and yellow contrast. There is some profiles out there but they are pretty much the same as most metriaclima species, top out usually...

    200L Mbuna Tank

No worries mate. It would take me ages to explain with pics and everything etc.. so best just to look at this.. http://www.fishhead.com/articles/ventsex.htm I WANT them! lol These are really really nice. flavus are nice but i think these are much nicer.
  32. Malawi MaD

    200L Mbuna Tank

Ahh no worries. Im guessing these are on the anal fin? Egg spots? This sometimes can indicate that they are males but females can have egg spots to, so that's not the best way to tell. like i say venting them is the only 100%( best way to know exactly what sex they are). Do you have any more...

    Anyone Been To The Ring?

Just wondering if anyone has been here? What was the cost for say a weekend etc??
  34. Malawi MaD

    200L Mbuna Tank

3 to 6 ideally. Not to many, even though this species is less aggressive and can be in smaller tanks the males will still have a rant with one another if there is too many. I saw in your pics what looked to have the potential to be a couple of males. Venting them is the only true possible way of...

    200L Mbuna Tank

10 more saulosi? No they will be fine, best to add in groups. Just remember to thin the males out if you have to many :good:
