The green tube arrived today so the filter is up and running again. No leaks so far. The new stuff doesn't fit the fluval tank connector though. Need to come up with a more elegant solution for the return hose. Its just running into the tank at the moment! Shaman Dan

Just use a bit of cotton wool/fishing wire to attach the java fern to any decorations/bog wood. Looks excellent.

I've read that some people have issues with the fluval hoses but a little bit of sealer/electrical tape :blink: should do the trick! Compared to the internal filters that I'm used too, the 305 is a bit of a beast.

The 305 arrived today! Didn't realise how big it is! Installed and working in tandem with the juwel internal setup. Just waiting for the hydor heater. How long should I run the two filters in tandem before switching off the juwel? With regards to the juice used by internal/external heaters...

Just ordered a fluval 305 and the hydor inline of the interweb. Now the question is, do I replace the Juwel system in my vision or use them on my new tank that I'm setting up! Shaman

Managed to pick up a new glass tank 40 x 80 x 62 (62 high). I've worked out it's nearly 200 litres. Is this tank suitable for angels? What would people's stocking suggestions be for this tank! It also needs a filter if anyone can recommend one! Cheers Shaman Dan

I just carried out a water change which seemed to leave most of it on the side of the tank as the level went down. Used kitchen towel to wipe this off then topped up water. Pump outlet aimed higher so increased surface agitation and problem solved!

I've just changed my gravel to a sand/gravel mixture for my Rams & Plec. It shouldn't send your tank into a cycle as most of your bacteria are in the filter so as long as you keep your filter moist (keep it in tank water when you change over) then you should be fine. There are some good...

Decided to re-scape my 180 litre. Drained the water, removed some of the gravel and put sand on top. Hopefully the sand will settle and mix with the gravel to create a more river/seabed style effect. Need to work out the best method for topping the sand up in patches though! Time to order some...

Plecs aren't an algae removal solution. It tends to be on younger plecs that eat algae and the plec you buy may not eat the stuff! What plec are you after? I'm looking at either an L200 or an L260 (or Both!)

I went through a fish-in cycle with my big tank so have all the testing gear! The filter media won't be added until needed, but how long can I keep plants in the tank before I need to start cycling?

How long from filling with water can I leave the plants in there before I add fish or is it the usual fish-in cycle method of fill the tank, let it settle 24-48 hours then add fish? The reason I ask is I was going to leave it a week to get the setup right! Cheers Shaman
