    NitrIte still too high

I've been doing the water changes every other day for about a week, maybe little longer. When you say move the fish did you mean so there's none left in the tank? As there's only one in it at the moment, the other has a permenant home in another tank now has he was a bully.

    NitrIte still too high

I've taken pudge out (the other day) and have put him in another tank, so my tank now has just the one fish, it is 24"x12"x12" (12.5 uk gal). The reading off the stick when comparing it to the colour chart is 5mg/l (the chart goes from 0, 1, 5, 10, 25, 50) the square is light pink after testing.

    Running out of patience!

I've been trying to get my tank to cycle, I've had it over a month now and was doing fine until I had to medicate for one of my fish, this appeared to mess up my biologial filter and set me back to square one. I've since been doing 25/50% water changes, adding filter aid etc. I'm still finding...

    ADF death...

Hey, The only thing I know about when an ADF sheads is that they are quite vulnerable afterwards until its skin becomes tougher. I know this isnt gonna help you much. Is the substrate you use relatively smooth and are they're any jagged/pointed objects in the tank? I only ask this because if so...

    HELP!!

Sorry to hear that your fish is unhappy. I'm certainly no expert at this but I know how horrible it is to have a fish who seems ill and not knowing what to do for it. My immediate reaction would be to check your water quality, if you dont have any test kits you can pick one up in most pet shops...

Floating a fish a in jar...

Hi, I've heard to cure swimbladder you can feed peas, or bloodworms etc. But having done that, a few days later my fish is then too bouyant again. Someone suggested putting the infected fish in a jar filled 2 inches from the top and floating it in the tank for about an hour. Something to do...

    RIP ADF :(

sorry to hear about your frog :( I've been meaning to get some as you may have read lately, I'm scared of killing them off so I know how you must feel. He may have ate too much? Were you feeding them live worms or freeze dried? I heard that live ones are much better, fresher obviously and cause...

    dare devil ADF thrill seeks!!!

Ok, a friend of mine has a rather large tank with only 3 ADF's in it, recently he bought one of those tiny remote control submarines that you can play with in the bath, or indeed fish tank. He put it in to try it out and wizzed it about the tank a few times. One of the more inquisitive frogs...

    Lionhead and ADF's?????

I've been doing daily water changes which has reduced the nitrite levels, I turned the temp down approx 2 degrees and I've abstained from feeding him so far. His swimming ability has greatly improved and he's not floating idle up in the corner, nor being dragged up from the bottom as though full...

To all those who helped me out with Squishy the lionhead having problems, thanks alot, he's well on the mend and seems alot better :) However, I bought the tank with the intention of putting African dwarf frogs in it. I couldn't resist buying squishy the lionhead however, but am now left with...

    lionhead and ADF's?????

I posted this up the other day but have since discovered that the title led some readers to think I wanted to feed frogs to another pet!! so, hopefully under this new title (cos I couldn't figure how to change the other) I'll find out if squishy the lion head would be nice to some froggie...

    Pics of my ADFs!

lol!! Ah, that is perhaps why I've had no reponses!! Oh dear, I wonder how many other people have thought I was going to feed frogs to my other pets (I'm sure my dog wouldn't say no, he's been fascinated with the fish tank since I got it!) Hmmm, perhaps I shall change the title of my post as I...

    Pics of my ADFs!

hi there, Very nice! I love those little guys, I bought a tank about a month ago (5 gal) and was intending to set it up and then add some frogs. On a trip to get some plants I came across a certain lionhead (Squishy- who can be seen to the left providing I've figured out the photo thing) who...

    CONFUSION!! nitrates...

I've just done a 50% water change. Before I added the water from the tap (obviously I treated it first and got the temp right) I checked the nitrite level. It came back almost completly clear. I added it to my tank, added some filter start then checked the nitrite levels of my tank. They came...

    will squishy like some frogs?!

So far all the reading around I've done has only served to confuse me more! I have a tank 24"x12"x12" with currently 2 lionhead gold fish in it. One fish is moving out into another tank as he is a bully, plus my flatmate chose him so I said he can go live in her room and she's bought a tank...

water emergencies (moved over from tropical forum)

 So I'm all confused, I set up my first tank on April 18th, got the temp all set (24c) and everything was fine, checked pH level, which was perfectly fine (7.5), made the tap water safe etc. From following the instructions in the test kit I bought, on day 3 I added my fish, 2 lion heads...
